Anyone have suggestions for a G10 Leek alternative

Can't believe that Baby Jess Horn ain't doin' it for you, Bruddah! ;)
The Jess Horn is really cool but it also weirds me out. I took the clip off it .I feel like someone took a really stout Spydie and shrunk it, it carries super well. But I feel they should have carved an opening notch by the spydie hole

The purpose of the post though, is I got a Spyderco knife carrying bag for Christmas some years ago from my wife, I'm gonna try to fill it now with my best of edcs/users collection.

So the hunt is on! Today I carried the m16, I just love that knife. I've had an alert setup on eBay for like 2 years now for the 154cm version and so far nothing has come up whatsoever. I also need a BM 10700 Nagara but not the goofy one with the Harley Davidson advertising on it.

Without the clip it makes for a great grab and go knife!

I keep it by my coat rack and have been rotating it with the m16 and milli lately. I had to put the native lw away as I use that one way too much.

When spring comes around the Mule I picked up from the pif thread gets tons of use. Lots of gardening and the 9cr18 steel of the mule is super rust resistant!

That's cool, Cchu... I thought the clip made the knife useful as a money clip! You're right, it's a stout little piece.

It would but I already carry a compact mini wallet and thanks for it. They really gotta reissue the original in s35v and a sprint steel!

So I really love the leek except for its slippery handle. I've been looking at the G10 Leek in S30v but I don't want to pay the markup that ppl are trying to get away with.

Is there an alternative that you can suggest? Same size good steel. Wharnie blade a plus bit not necessary. I'm scratchimg my head at this one...I mainly work in an office so I can't really nor do I want to carry a bigger blade. Flipper a plus as well.

Zinker Dogtooth from Massdrop.

S35vn, lightweight bearing flipper. This framelock Ti version is plenty grippy, but they've done a linerlock g10 version as well.

After carrying the mnandi again it's possible that it might be the leek killer ... but for now I've narrowed the possible next choices to he a CF Leek, another Kabar Dozier lockback, GB Air or potentially that Steel Will Mini...( Yimes Yimes where did you find that cool blue one?) To be continued...I also have that Dogtooth coming too I have no idea what size it is I just wanted it.

PS as you can see I tried the grip tape trick. It works but Im not feeling it lol.

I bought the grey and did a quick soak in evening blue Rit dye. Super easy and much better looking then the grey in my opinion.

Now that is just plain cool. I would like to see the linerlock G10 example of this.

^I really like anything that is sort of Kit Carson custom looking! I know that Zinker designed it bit Carson's M16 was first.

... Or the dividend in frn, if you could live with the 420hc.

I like the Dogtooth but I prefer tip-down for this class of knife because I carry in a shirt pocket. The Dividend does a lot of what the Leek can do but doesn't come in G10. The FRN version is much fatter and eliminates the tip-down option. With the M390 version of the Dividend for under a hundred bucks, I might forgive the aluminum scales. I know the Speedsafe complicates things but I'm really hoping that we see some aftermarket G10 scales for it.

The Dogtooth is tip up.

Dogtooth arrives today. I've been carrying the baby Jess Horn last few weeks. It might just qualify as a week killer.

I hope to put in some work this weekend and chamfer the scales so they fit a bit better in hand. I also want to make an angled thumb groove for where the Spydie hole is. Those two changes just might do the trick!

The groove will be like the on on the Air .

I bought one of those Honey Badgers. I really like the handle. And it's a really smooth knife. Here where I live, I've never seen a Leek with a g10 handle.

That Zinker Dogtooth looks nice!! If you keep an eye on eBay, the G10 Leeks pop up frequently lightly used and some sell at decent prices... the NIB mint G10's will bring good money since they are long disco'd...

Just for personal curiosity, could you have custom g10 scales on it? Or is that too costly to have done? I'm a bit of a noob

Apparently people have tried and failed because its so thin!

I've been tracking prices but I don't buy into the I have to pay a premium just because they're sold out. I've picked up plenty of knives and have never "flipper" or "collector priced" any knives that I've sold. Like anytime a sprint Spydie run happens people buy like 5 and try to get $300 for each of them. I mean they can do that if they want I just don't buy into it, I'll just find an alternative.

I think the milled titanium version of the CRKT Eros might be up your alley. I’ve never held one in hand, but it looks like they share a lot of ergonomic decisions as well as a designer.

Personally, I’d go with the CF Leek because I’m a huge fan of it and I think everyone should have at least one Leek in their collection. If I could only have one, the CF version would be it. It’s earned it’s place.
