Anyone have the MKC Montana yet?

Seems like a good quality liner lock, but way too much hype in the advertising. They are trying to make it seem like this knife is groundbreaking. While it may be for them as it is their first folder, it’s nothing us knife nuts haven’t seen before.
 
I’m curious also.
I have a buddy who is pretty hyped about the knife.
I’ll ask if he picked one up and post if I have an opportunity to check it out.

I didn’t even know about it till this thread so I got curious and went over to see what the hype was about. Apparently it’s another liner lock. . . Ok.

A USA made liner lock is not a bad thing. The ergos and blade shape look good, its just not very interesting.

For me:

Its too small

I don't like the deep carry clip

Titanium hardware doesn't make sense, its softer than stainless and will strip easier while offering next to nothing in weight savings.

I prefer bushings over bearings.

For the price you might as well get a CRK.

Website lacks easy to find pricing. I'm not at the "don't need to worry about the cost" level of collecting. Just tell me what it'll wind up being after everybody gets done hokeying around with MSRP, "special limited time" blah bla. Realistically. Can Blade HQ put me into this knife today for only $249.95? Less?
 
Well, in general I like the design, but the size is too small for me and the price too big. If I wanted a folding paring knife and could justify the moolah, that might be the ticket. That said, as with any American biz, I hope MKC does well with this venture.
 
I like the blade shape a lot. But I prefer to carry small fixed blades. I'll bet that MagnaCut @59 has a lot of toughness. I like MagnaCut @62-63 and am very happy with the edge holding.

It's a handsome design. I like the blade shape. I don't mind a well built liner lock. In fact, it almost seems refreshing in the current hurricane of new cross bar lock offerings. It does seem to me, though, that the price doesn't suit the item, even for USA manufacturing. You're only thirty bucks away from a Hinderer, or even a small Sebenza.
 
Price is insane for what it is. If it's 59hrc then who would want it at that price? It seems the hype works for their followers though. Liner lock, low hrc, too small, insane price. No thanks.

63hrc and a thin 4 inch blade at $250 or less would have me interested, maybe, even with a liner lock. Never going to happen because their price point will never be reasonable. I have ignored them for a while now based on price and hype.

The fan base for any brand will always support, they're sold out.
