anyone in NC?

I'm in Concord NC lived here only 7 years kinda hard to find a place to shoot. But River Side Gun club has a range at Richfield about 18 miles from me with a inside and outside shooting but only at 100yds. I'm getting back into making knives a little and I'm retired from the Knifemakers Guild. I read here alot but hardly ever post.

You should check out Terrill's post in the calender. It the info is on there. I will be hosting some more trips in the late future if I can muster up some time from t'other ones.

URE is great, I take my jeep there all the time 4 wheeling, it also is a great place to find timber rattlers. glorious!

You gotta come out to Western NC if possible -- I'm in Asheville. Mountains here are amazing -- pristine wilderness all the way up into the Smokies in TN!

I went to UNC Asheville. I miss it dearly (the town, not the school). I live in Charlotte.

You gotta do WNC! Make the time

trout fishing, white water, hiking, scenery, natives, mountian biking, etc,

Do it!

I think Croatan looks about as good as anything close by unless you can manage the trip to Uwharrie. I think you should be able to make the southern end of Uwharrie around Morrow Mt in 2.5 hours or so but I've never actually made that drive. Turkey season opens on the 11th so don't wear blue ;).

I was at Lejeune from 99-01 with 10th Marines and there are only two things you need to do in NC in April.

1 eat BBQ- That Carolina white BBQ is some good stuff. If I remember right the restaraunt in J'ville was called Smithfields or something like that.

2 Go to Topsail Island or Atlantic Beach and watch the Bikinis come out for the summer.

If you really want to hike there are some nice trails fairly close, go to the base MWR and they will set you up with gear and maps. Also if you have a 4 wheel drive or a dirt bike you can hit the tank trails on base. There is also an LZ right by the back gate that has an awesome camping spot. Tree line cuts about 50 ft of the LZ off from the rest of it and you're right on the bank of the New River in a nice spot to wade or watch the sun set. (Watch out for 2nd tanks though, they like the LZ and don't really care for bon fires in their tactical LZ).

Another passtime is go to the J'ville mall and look for boots in their coreframs...
