Anyone know of knock-off Benchmade NimCubs? (Yep, its a knock-off)

Hi everyone, I have a Benchmade Nimcub that has me wondering if its a knock off :confused:

Reasons
-It came in an unmarked Black Benchmade box, the box is pretty cheap & weak, comes apart easy and seems to open differently then others Ive seen.
-It came with a very cheap nylon sheath marked benchmade, most Ive seen come with a nice kydex like sheath.
-The edge is kinda crappy as is the overall F&F, the handle slabs are not as flush w/ the knife as Id expect them to be.
-Was just looking at pics of others NIMcubs and the steel type stamping seems to be on the opposite side of the blade.

This is the only pic I have on hand, will get some more tommorow once I get home.

I have seen the fakes on the bay. China will fake/steal any design they think they can make a buck on. These days that would be just about everything.
 
It appears to be a fake, in my experience Benchmade does not stamp the steel type on the logo side of blade. Could you tell us where you got it from??
 
Lol kind of funny that under "feature" in the description that it says "Disposable" haha, sorry about you getting a fake man, just remember to buy from reputable dealers and if something seems fishy then it is.
 
Looks off to me. Shouldn't the screws be black and the steel marking be on the back?
 
great, had a feeling, thanks for that link George. Yeah, got it on the bay for $60 (used ebay bucks to buy it so not a true loss). Well live and learn, its my first official fake. Wish I had asked this a while ago, I bought it in Dec I believe so Im sure Im sol. Thanks everyone for the insight.
 
Well I just contacted the person I bought it off of, sent him a very level headed email. We will see if he accepts responsibility for selling me a fake. If not then I will post his ebay handle and email addy in order to potentially protect the good guys. Again, thanks everyone.
 
I think you should post it regardless of the outcome. He's selling fake knives and ripping off both the Benchmade company as well as consumers. Just my opinion.

Alright, well here is his info. With this, keep in mind that there is a possibility that he did not know. Hopefully he responds to my email and accepts responsibility, I'll keep y'all posted.

The Benchmade NimCub and NimCub II are ground higher than halfway across the width of the blade to the spine--and the grind sweeps up in a nice curve from the top of the choil area (this nice, curved area of the grind is a hallmark of the Benchmade blade shape). The grind on your knife goes less than halfway up and is straight from the top of the choil. Also, no NimCub has a short, wide swedge up near the tip like that. The swedge on the NimCub II is long and slender, running from the logo up the spine, but merging into the spine short of the tip. Lastly, that logo is way too big...it looks ridiculous.
 
Time for some ebay negative feedback, I'm thinking.
 
I waited too long to question the knife, bought it in Jan so that is no longer an option. Sent him a few more emails, no reply. Gonna add him to my favorite sellers so when he posts something ill get an instant notifaction then ill post the exact item for a million bux in ordet to get peoples attention, when they click on my auction they will get clued in to his ways as I will link this thread into my description.
