So Christmas is coming. Sales are here. And they have managed to get about 3 times my monthly knife budget this month. Just ordered my first WE knife. The Wisp.

30% off sealed the deal. That's on top of 2 new Arno Bernard's arriving a few days ago. Also on sale.

Hoping no other sales show up in my email inbox before payday. Who knew this could become such an expensive hobby??? o_O

Ask yourself, do you need it? Are you going to use it? I looked around and have way more knives than I'll ever need, or use. I was buying them just to get something new.

This past week I bought something I really need instead. A little lightweight Stihl chainsaw. I was using it yesterday to cut up ice storm downed limbs and trim trees. It was a pleasure to use compared to my big firewood saw. 200 dollars, it suddenly seemed a bargain considering how much more there is to it, than a 200 dollar knife!

Don't look at me! Ever since Amazon started taking Hilton Honors points for payment, I've managed to burn thru 750,000 but, I've got some nice blades to show for it. I've got blades that I probably wouldn't own otherwise. I picked-up a Microtech Socom Elite back in October. I just got a Guardian Tactical Helix Nano and just ordered a Fox FKMD FX-516 B.R.I. I guess I should send Conrad Hilton a thank you note?

I’m fresh out, sorry. :(

We are away in the countryside for the weekend and I ‘lost’ my Mercator K55K yesterday. It is one of the cheapest knives I own, but also one of the most loved and most used. Beautiful natural patina.

So... I ordered a replacement last night. And then this morning my daughter cheeefully told me she had found it under the bed. I guess now I will have a spare...

I always say to myself ok lets wind this down now, then I look on just pics of knives of one of those threads, see something cool and start right back up.You guys and your pictures don't help stop this insanity !

The key to self-control is buying that one last knife that satisfies the urge

Self Control is a learned skill. Expensive knives are an acquired taste. The two concepts compete and you just have to learn how to deal with it in your own world.

Self control is a muscle, strengthened by repeated use, fatigued when held too long. Given my addiction to sugar, that's how I view dieting. Refuse sweets for a period of time, then have a cheat meal. It's a heck of a lot easier for me to refrain from something completely than it is to moderate my intake. So I do.

Stay away from all knife related websites and dont look at the displays in stores. It's the only way! :p

100% this ^

Browsing this site adds what seems like hundreds of new knives to my “Must Buy” list. It’s a terribly awesome side effect of BladeForums.

easy. turn power off and wifi off and head outside and enjoy what ya already got. if ya cant get emails trying to get ya to open your wallet and cant browse here and see what's going on...you wont be tempted.:)
