True, although the last few times I have invested "in myself" ie: technical training, college degrees, etc. things didn't pan out as favorably as knives have. lol I may not live long enough to ever pay back my student loans. Not that I am saying education is a waste of time. But in my case, circumstances and the fickled finger of fate worked against me.
Still, there's foolish and then there's Foolish. So far over 60% of the knives in my collection cost me $50 or less. And I haven't yet sold a single one trying to "recoup funds" or finance another purchase. Not saying it won't happen, but it hasn't yet.
BTW, I learned at a very young age the difference between need and want. Mom repeatedly explained it to me every time I brought something to her hoping and begging she would buy for me at the store. lol
None of the knives I collect or buy, are knives I need. They are knives I wanted.
The knives I need, are in the butcher block holder in the kitchen, on my boat while fishing, in my pocket at work, or on my belt when hunting.
Absolutely, I understand! I just tried to depress you since you asked me to try convince!
Im not trying to be saint here, I do the same thing. I have slowed my pace a lot and rationalized my buys but I will certainly never stop.
