Anyone know why Spyderco has a policy of not releasing the RHC #'s of their knives?

Are you saying my ability to express an opinion on this site is limited to my opinion aligning with your devotion to Spyderco and Sal?

No...but if you throw a certain type of attitude around, people will just plain not like you.
You could end up being the only person that listens to your opinion, as everyone else engages the ignore function.

That is all.

Already done. All trolling, baiting and insults, zero content. Poof.

I disagree with not liking to release a target HRC for some knives, it DOES matter, that has been proven. But Spyderco is usually pretty good if not the best production company at reaching the best HT for knives.

I have a greater number of those knives made in Oregon City Or and I've not been disappointed with one of them.
You want to guess who I'll be sharing my money with in the future?
I've got several of those knives too. Unlike you, I'm severely disappointed in 3 that have botched heat treats, probably to the point I won't buy any more unless it's a model with a flawless history. That unfortunately eliminates quite a few.
Can't say the same for any of my Spydercos.

It's not your honest opinions and experience that is the problem. You are NOT the only person on this big ass forum that DOES NOT like Spyderco and FRN etc. Attitude and lack of respect IS the problem. You don't like it? Move on. Benchmade has a subforum where you can compare Contego heat treats to your heart's desire.

What's sad is, you think you are some sort of victim here when people simply responded to your question. Even non "fanboys" admit that Spyderco of all production brands get the HT right because they care and pay attention to it. Other brands may post HT, but if you do a bit of research, the other leading brands have had heavy discussions on their subforums regarding botched and poor HT's as well. So if you really really care about HT more than anything with knives, I would take THAT into account as well.

It's become clear that you came in here to troll and not much else... WHAT ANSWER would have been sufficient for you as to why they don't publish? Exactly. Mr. Contego.

Like I said on page one months ago...

You can typically ask Sal for HT numbers on here or on the Spyderco.com forum and he provides it... He also provides CATRA results out of curiosity or when a problem arises. It's clear that they are not posting numbers as part of a knife's advertising just because they have something to hide.

Imagine if I go to other subforums with the name EnduraBob and begin patronizingly mock its members over issues that are readily explained but I was too daft to accept it. Then months later, come back and throw another underhanded remark out of nowhere.... We get it, no more Spyderco's for you moving forward... What do you want us to do? Clap? You're not here to resolve anything, if you were you wouldn't act like a toolbag and people here would help you. This isn't a fanboy subforum and it is ignorant to think so.

Hi Contegobill,

Welcome to our forum. Hope you enjoy your time spent here, though it seems to be minimal at this time.

I must admit that in the decade plus that I have been participating on this and other forums, only you have referred to me as a god, thought I don't think it is a title that fits me or that I like. I prefer to think of myself as one of the afi's here that shares knowledge, thought and opinion. Certainly your opinion does seem a bit provocative.

Sal, you do it right. Always have and always will. Thanks for making great knives and sharing your knowledge.

Always a class act.

In Spyderco related news, my Spyderco Farid K2 showed up today.
It's pretty freakin sweet. :)

This is the additional reason I went & got more Spydercos, though they are awesome by themselves too
Looking forward for Enduras, Pac Salt & Tenacious.

This has all happened before...

Purchased a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 134CF with a M4 blade not long ago, and I'm very happy with it.
I wrote Spyderco inquiring as to the angle of the blade and the RHC as well.
They replied the angle is about 17 degrees, and they "do not release the Rockwell numbers".
Well they did make the knife and if they don't want to publish the hardness rating, I guess that's their business and they have the right not to divulge that info. I just don't understand the thinking, seeing as how Benchmade freely publishes those numbers and I did write ZT with the same question regarding a ZT 0801BW I bought and like a lot, they got back to me with 20-22 degrees and their Elmax runs between 58-62, and I thanked them for the info.
It's not a big deal, the M4 is probably in the range of 62-64 it just would have been nice not to feel like I need a NSA clearance or something to hear the answer from them.
If anyone knows whats up please let me know.
Happy Honing

Mr. BenchmadeBill,

Here's an indication on what you might expect out of Spyderco's HT for M4, based on testing performed on the 2010 Millie sprint.

That being said, I find your tone & attitude less than optimal (euphemism intended), so let me see if this works:

My Spydercos perform well. I don't really care what the HRC is if the knife performs well. The microstructure is more important and Spyderco gets it right more often than not.

If you don't like frn they offer other handle materials. Frn is light, strong, grippy with the mold they use, and lasts. I don't see a problem, but there are options if it doesn't suit you.

Thank you for your reply
You are held in extremely high regard in the knife community and for good reason I meant you no disrespect in previous posts
If you go back to the beginning of this string I asked a simple question and due to the fact that I am indeed new to this forum and had not done an exstinive search of the subject the replies to the question seemed rather defensive and a few somewhat hostile
To assume I am some sort of "troll" for the other team is a mistake. I own as many spydercos as other brands I own.
The Gayle Bradley 134 is in the top 2 of all of the knives in my collection. The Native 5 in G10, the Manix 2 and XL version are among my favorites.
I'm pretty sure my choice for a user name on this forum was not a good one considering the make up of the constituents here but I assure you no provocation was intended.
And if I have offended you I apologize.
Just one question, any idea as to when the Gayle Bradley 2 will be released to market?

Thanks for the HRC info.
That's a nice piece of equipment, where did you buy it? The spray is probably from some place else.

The reason why Spyderco is my most loved, appreciated and highly regarded company. I bow to this act, Sal.
Awesome!

...

I'd have more respect when a person owns up and apologizes instead of making excuses but do go on...
