Anyone Looking For A Bird And Trout Knife ?

Those handle just make me want to grab it, I'm getting one for sure. I really like the look of the
mudpuppy, but the birddog just looks so darn useful.
Pitdog, wanna hold one of each for me til I decide?

The puppy looks real nice- anybody want to buy a broke gimp an early wedding present??
(or birthday/Hallowe'en/ Christmas/Valentines day present)???

I've had a couple of SS4's before. The mudder handles are very comfortable. Hopefully they've eliminated the gap problem on these. On a bird and trout knife that gap could be a breeding ground for bacteria.

scrapyard uses sr77, although jerry has "tons and tons" of 154cm (as well as other stockpiled steels, not just INFI, sr77 and sr101) and scrapyard is all for using scraps of steel.
some think res-c looks ugly, (and I admit it's not as nice looking as micarta) but it's pretty indestructible and is super comfy!!!
(especially mudders)
:D

I think Swamp Rat's coming out with a blade in 154cm too. I wonder why it didn't get a new name. S-7 became SR-77, 52100 became SR101, and who knows what INFI is.

I like both knives but like others have said I'm not sure about the handles. I usually dont like soft handles because they are too grippy and always seem to tear up my hands. I also don't particulary like hidden tang knives.

All that said I think these are going to be the first two Scrapyard knives I am going to buy....I hope I get the chance.

That's what I thought about the SS4, so I paid $250 aftermarket to get one. Turns out that handle is not comfortable at all, and doesn't fit my hand very well. I'd suggest you try one out, if at all possible, before buying.

That being said, that MudPuppy does look like a very cool blade.

That's strange reading that bro, I have never heard anyone before say anything negative about the Mudder handles. I have the SS4 and it feels great to me but I have average hands.
Do you have really large or really small hands ?

thats the first time I've heard that too...
but everyone's hands are different!
:D
the swamp is using 154cm too, yes.

I liked the mudder handles. They weren't great, but they fit me well. I do find myself disliking a lot of handles that others swear by. The Game Warden is not nearly as nice for me as it is for most. Most Barkies don't fit me well. I have yet to find a high end knife that really makes me want to use it. Of all the knives I've owned, I have 4 fixed blades that I really like the feel of. Anza Boddington, #2 Mora, Boker Arbolito, and CS SRK. And I still haven't held a folder as comfortable to me as the original S&W SWAT.
