I doubt it.

The handle should just be unhardened steel due to the way they heat treat their 5160.

So it should only take a good sharp bit and a drill press. Use slow speed on the drill, and a cutting oil (like rapid tap) to keep from heating/hardening the steel as you drill.

As you drill you should use enough pressure to keep chips/curls being cut away. If it starts smoking stop for a sec and let it cool…

I used to be a tool room machinist in a former life...... So I "should" be ok..... I just didn't know that the tang was soft?

I guess I could try filing it....

Haha - so you know what a drill press is then huh??

Yeah I believe all of their blades are differentially heat treated and they just heat/quench the edge so the handle/spine should drill ok…

Finally got her! 10 (11)” Deep Woods with the overly pronounced clip point removed. This knife is an absolute monster! Can’t wait to chop some wood with it!
