Anyone own a mineral mountain hatchet works Bowie? Some insight please.

Haven't tried, I might need carbide?
I doubt it.

The handle should just be unhardened steel due to the way they heat treat their 5160.

So it should only take a good sharp bit and a drill press. Use slow speed on the drill, and a cutting oil (like rapid tap) to keep from heating/hardening the steel as you drill.

As you drill you should use enough pressure to keep chips/curls being cut away. If it starts smoking stop for a sec and let it cool…

I used to be a tool room machinist in a former life...... So I "should" be ok..... I just didn't know that the tang was soft?

I guess I could try filing it....

Haha - so you know what a drill press is then huh?? ;)

Yeah I believe all of their blades are differentially heat treated and they just heat/quench the edge so the handle/spine should drill ok…

if you really actually put it to Use, please let us know.... :)
I'm always curious if people like them....?
Hey Crag,
As promised I have put it through some paces and it works great. Here’s a review.
