Anyone Read Any Good Books Lately?

I've re-re-reread Ender's Game this month in prep for the movie. Maybe my favorite fiction book ever.

I've heard great things about Ender's Game. I might have to check it out. There are so many books that are being made into movies, I think they're getting a little carried away with it. Oh well, the books are always better than film anyway. :D

Frank Perreti's - This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness Series

Joel Rosenberg's - Last Jihad and Twelfth Imam Series - fiction but scary relevant to our current times

The entire "Mitch Rapp" series of books by Vince Flynn, espionage/terrorists/politics great reads. Sadly Vince Flynn just passed away (in June) at age 47 so I am guessing there may only be one book left in the series (as it is already scheduled for release).

Matthew Riley is a great writer, he has a couple different series books (Scarecrow and Jack West) and some stand alone books, all are a great read (just not to be taken too seriously ;) ).

I really like the Lee Child "Jack Reacher" books....I was of course SHATTERED when Tom Cruise was cast to play the SIX FOOT FIVE Jack Reacher in the movie....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"This book is full of spiders" is an AWESOME book. I am now reading it for the third time. I can't put it down :D

I struggled through two of those. Lee Child is the most inept writer in his genre, with the most inept editors in the game. Casting Tom Cruise makes sense, since the books don't appear to be proofread, and the author can't be bothered to research anything he writes about.

This month's Maxim was stellar. Alyssa Milano featured. Plus rib cooking tips. Delicious! The ribs looked good too.

Hunger Games (or the original, Battle Royale)
Cutting for Stone
My Sister's Keeper (much better than the movie)
A Thousand Splendid Suns
Steig Larsson's trilogy
Eragon series
Pillars of the Earth - Follet
Game of Thrones
The Giver
any of Malcom Gladwell's books

I'm reading a book I borrowed from Pokey called, Gone Girl. So far it is really, really good!

I recommend this series to anyone who'll listen. Can't wait to read these ones to my kids.

Lots of good suggestions above. Enders Game, Dune, Awesome. Unintended Consequences, decent book sold my copy for $165 lol. Cormac McCarthy is garbage IMO.

Not sure if a lot of those suggestions would appeal to a female audience though. Pillars of the Earth by Follet is outstanding, my sisters absolute favorite book.

Yes! Just finished reading that myself, so good!

REALLY!?!?! I can't find ANYONE who has read that book. I read the first one too, "John dies at the end." Not as good as the second book but still really good. Have you read that one?

Wait till you get to the end. . . . :D

YES!! If you like it now, just wait until the end. Thanks for lending that one to me as well, my dear Pokey. I loved it. Pokey, is like my own little library. Perhaps she'll let me borrow This Book is Full of Spiders ;)

The Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson where a old WW I destroyer still on active duty in the early days of WWII is swept through a storm/portal to a 'parallel' earth. Just finished the 7th novel and love the characters, scenario and the action.

I read the entire Hunger Games trilogy. I like the first two more than I liked Mockingjay. They are all good, I just felt that the third wasn't as spectacular as the first two. I also read My Sister's Keeper, I really like that one too. Great books

Yep, I watched the movie first, ( John dies at the end) then read that book, then Spiders. I'm really hoping he writes another one.
