Anyone recognize this?

Dang, I thought Goodwill was a place to get a good deal (thrift store prices), not a place to overpay for a piece of CrapPaki.

I see they lowered the price a little. But still, they're not going to earn any "goodwill" asking $106 for that thing.

Mine is of Turkish origin. Allegedly. Looks pretty much like that, but it certainly didn't cost what they're asking in that ad. I'd post a link to the maker's website, but it may be against the rules I haven't read...

So here's what mine looks like:

W Weiss That’s the same maker for sure judging by the, um, teeth?

So is yours possible Damascus too? Does the spine look like Damascus or just plain steel like the one in the first post?

No, really.....do a search on Ebay.......

Can get the same "tracker" knife and sheath new for a lot less on the "big river site".

What the...WHAT!!!

42 bidders, $467 dollars?! Who are these people?

I mean, read the description- "Unmarked", that right there is bad enough and screams "CHEAP CRAP!!!".

But if that wasn't bad enough, "Possible Damascus Steel"....... they don't even know what it's made of.

I imagine you could get a very nice custom made for that kind of money, out of good steel, from a well-known maker.

If it's not people messing with Goodwill, and someone seriously pays that kind of money for that thing, I REALLY hope they sign up here to ask "Can anyone tell me anything about this knife I just bought".

But I'm hoping the bids are fake. Because the idea of anyone paying $467, or more, for that thing threatens my faith in humanity.

That's absolutely crazy. insane.

What is the function of the shape of that blade? I see only a blade that is almost useless and unnecessary laborous to sharpen.

What is the function? A movie prop.

That style of knife (Tracker) was featured in a major Hollywood movie ("The Hunted").

To be fair to Mr. Brown, I don't know if he designed the knife before being asked to provide a knife for the movie, or if he designed it specifically for the movie. I do know that I never saw one before the movie.

I never saw the practicality of it. The amount of curvature of the forward edge doesn't look like it would be a good chopper. Nor does it look like the tip would be of any use for things like gutting fish, or any detailed knife work that might come up out in the wild.

I think it's a "solution" in search of a problem that doesn't exist.

But hey, it was in a movie, so I'm sure that alone makes a lot of people think it's awesome, and the most deadly/useful knife design on earth. And that's a good enough reason for them to buy one.

No offense intended to people who own and like them. To each their own. :)
