Anyone regularly shave with your "shaving sharp" knife?

i went through a phase of about a year and a half where i used a straight razor, it was neat. it wasn't difficult, but i just use a Gillette now because its worth my time to not spend 35 minutes shaving. takes me about 3-4 minutes to shave now

Daily, with my Enlan EL02, or Navy k631, or SRM763. All my EDC.

Shave dry, even after a long day & face is oily. No prob. As close as the shave I have using Gillette Twin disposable razor.

They get stropped now and then, and that keeps them sharp. Other EDC uses: paper shredding at office, pizza cutting, opening instant coffee pack, pencil sharpening.

i sometimes use my mora 511 for shaving but have been using it less and less as I've been playing with straight razors which I can get slightly sharper (just cant get the same angle on a regualr knife).

I sometimes use my Gayle Bradley to shave if I haven't shaved for a few days because my Gillette gets clogged. I just clean up with the Gillette after. I stopped doing that after I got startled once and got this.

Although my scraggly facial hair does not require frequent shaving (my father couldn't even grow a beard until the age of 47), most of the time when I shave I use a case peanut. I am considering the purchase of an actual straight razor in the near future.

update -I have purchased a straight razor, and the first shave was already the most comfortable I have had in my life

Does using Victorinox SAK Scissors to trim your mustache count?

I've shaved with a knife I sharpened to win a bet once. I look silly without a beard though, so I generally don't shave ever.

I shaved with a shaving sharp busse gamewarden, once. I was reminded that shaving Sharp is not razor sharp...

I know that this is an _old_, resurrected thread, but....
I will occasionally (when I am up very late at night after a few belts of whiskey) grab the knife on my belt or in my pocket and dry shave. I rarely do my entire face, but the cheeks and jaw line will be scraped clean to make things quicker the next morning. I've used a Spyderco Manix2, Spyderco Persistence, Spyderco Kiwi3, and Bradford Guardian 3. I've nicked myself once, but it was clean enough and small enough to not scar up. I have not used a Vic yet....but this thread inspired me to turn around and grab my Leatherman Rebar from the shelf behind me since it should be in good shape.....
...
And I have determined I need to sharpen that one up a bit. Darn it... now I've nicked myself twice shaving with pocket knives. At least it is only as bad as the occasional nick with a cartridge razor... And I feel a bit of razor burn...I really should have stropped that blade before trying.
I just hope I can get showered and shaved in the morning before my wife notices the nick. ;) (Of course, I know she'll find out somehow :()

Enjoy and good luck.

I partially shaved with my guardian 3 once out in the field. I did it because my LT said I couldn’t. After few painful (PAINFUL) passes we both decided I proved my point. The burn on my face was real! I won’t do that again. I was so damn uncomfortable for the rest of that insanely hot day Hahahaha. Pride is stupid.

I don't regularly shave. Once every week or two, and then I use tools designed for the task. Pocket knives aren't among them. Form follows function.

Well i trim so no, but i do have those baldspots on my arm from testing lol.

Also seems like a rather scary thing to do and i'm sure my girlfriend would freak out.

Bro this is a family friendly forum, you can't be dropping the F bomb in general knife discussion... Theres no swear filter cause we're all supposed to be reasonable people here that know to filter ourselves...

Having said that, there are several appropriate sub-forum where you don't need to filter yourself but again GKD isn't one of them, we have numerous members who are under age and this is the most generalized discussion forum on the site.

Shave with a regular knife? Why would I want to unless it was an emergency? I don't view the higher likelihood of getting nicked as a good reason to do it for fun.
