Anyone scared of that knife that cut them?

It's a good think I suck at sharpening. I have had some close calls, but so far, touch wood (handle of a knife!) no stitches. I think the wife would be most unimpressed. I agree that pretty much any drinking and knife play is a bad combo. I have three knives I like to open/close repeatedly, to improve muscle memory, and these are all fairly tame. I need to type as part of my job (in IT) so... it would be "bad" if I hurt my hands.

Why would you fear the knife, it is you who got yourself cut right?
When I cut myself, I think why I did it and then be more careful.
Lesson learned.

 Pretty much reflects my thoughts, although this has been an interesting thread on a couple of levels just looking at the wording it appears in some cases the knife was to blame. ;)

When I cut myself the knife did not do it; I did. Never have had a knife jump up and cut me yet, but if one ever does, it'll be a keeper for sure. :D

I've always looked at it like this myself. I screw up and cut myself. I haven't had one come to life and slice or impale a body part. It's always from messing around with them, sharpening them...just about anything. I can't tell you how many nicks I've got while wiping down a sharp blade and the edge sneaks through the rag and bites me.

I've had some mean cuts - like the Izula exploding out of the sheath while tightening the cord wrap. It took a month to heal & 6 months for the nerve endings to re-associate to normal again. It's in my pocket right now. :D

No stitches yet, butterfly strips + good pressure bandages are great.

I had a Kershaw blur I was scared of so I gave it away.

My RAT-1 cut me real good when I in a moment of brilliance decided to pop a length of paracord with my finger as the backstop. Yeah, that bled, and now I have a numb spot on that finger.

Well, in my case it was an ultralight balisong with smooth wood scales I couldn't get a good grip on . . . and I do believe beers were involved. Anyhow, it ended up flying straight up in the air and wanted to come directly down on my head, point first . . . but I wasn't thinking about that, I was thinking "Nooooooo! Rare aluminum Manila Folder is going to hit the concrete floor point first!" So I tried snatching it out of the air which was a bad idea. Nearly fileted my palm to the bone and ended up dropping it anyway. But the point was okay! :)
