Anyone track their EDC carry habits?

Would you use an app to track your EDC carry habits?

You might want to look into an EDC Gear Collection App, it seems like it would have broader appeal and you can always add a function that tracks which of the gear you own you carry and how often. There is a (German?) Knife Collection App but I don't recall it having gotten noteworthy traction. If you add some Instagram integration it would have even more appeal (Like posting your updated collection pictures to your account for example). You could either use manufacturer pictures or have user submitted pictures.
Again, just trying to be productive than just shooting down your idea.

Much respect and appreciation.
Exactly why I created the post in the first place...Being productive.

My thought was that it would be EDC cumulative.

Open an instagram account and you can keep an on line knife journal. A few key words and hashtags you’ll have a searchable personal database.

In fact, isn’t almost any edc, IG blog kinda what you want/need?

As far as tracking stuff, knives and other edc kinds of gear could be done.... I used to track every penny I spent with the idea of gaining some sort of life changing revelation as to my habits, how I might be able to save more, and how I might be wasting money needlessly. I did this for a couple years....the result was that I learned that regardless of a budget being set up, I did precisely what I wanted to do. That said, was the information useful? Honestly.... I knew the answers before I started.

Google certainly tracks you. Amazon tracks you. Many of the apps on phones track where you are hour to hour during the day. They seem to find it useful. Suggestions on products to buy.... The only way to avoid this is to turn off your phone. The only apps that I actually use frequently are the weather and kindle apps.

It might be interesting to learn how often you use a flash light, use a knife, use or need a pen, a note pad..., this is the kind of thing one might do in days past on a day timer. Now we have our smart phones, tablets, and so forth that are portable. Is the information useful? Or is collecting it just for fun? If I did such a thing, it would be mostly for fun or satisfying casual interest. Bottom line is that I probably know the answer for edc stuff before I even start tracking the information, so why bother?

We're all different and we binge on information from time to time. EDC tracking? Go for it.

Yeah man...Seeing the power of AI in my professional life, when it crossed my mind, it interested me and thought it'd be worth throwing out here to the collective.

Definitely regretting that. I'll keep my log, and do whatever I can come up with on my own and go back to lurking.

Cheers all.
Why go back to lurking? I don't see anyone attacking you. It's not like you're making comments about tactical tantos and bananas (look it up, maybe under tactical bananas).

Seems like just about everyone goes through a little ribbing when they first get here. Most of the members are decent people but sometimes the subject matter of a thread is just too good to ignore. Normally the teasing stops after a short time.

Personally, I'd like you to stick around. Your comments make me think. That's always a good thing.

Well, again, don't see why I would need or want an AI or app or spreadsheet to understand what knives I like. I'm not the smartest guy out there, and I find it pretty easy.

And, as you said, you asked

Does anyone else use an app to track this?

Would you use a resource to track your EDC carrying habits?

...and a bunch of people said "Uh...no."

Hardly a reason skulk off. It's a forum...like sabre cat sabre cat said...it's "a medium (such as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas"...not "a medium where everybody thinks all your ideas are awesome."

Particularly from a guy so "survival forward" that he conceals a handcuff key at all times.

"Lemme go!"
"No."
"Awww. OK. Nevermind. :("

:D

Don't disagree with any of that. As I've noted multiple times, I understand everyone's different. And I'm sure that I overreacted when responding to some posts, but oh well...I'm human.

I've been able to get good detail and insight out of this thread. So, despite any of my previous remarks, there are no hard feelings here.

That's the spirit!
