Anyone use a Shemagh?

Keep one in my hunting bag. They are great in the blind for keeping the sun off you. They are semi camo. I tried camo cloth, terry towels and delta airline blanket. None compare. If I could find the old red Banda in the same size I would go with that. I don't necessarily wear it in public. In fact the only thing that sees me in it are the critters.

Well, to put it in perspective, I don't give a tinker's damn if a hipster doesn't approve of my jeans. But if something I wear is liable to incite a potentially violent confrontation, I steer clear. Just like I don't put controversial bumper stickers on my car, or put political signs on my lawn.

Never heard of a violent encounter from a shemagh, red/blue/gold bandanas or even british knight tennis shoes back in the day, but never a shemagh.

I do think its silly that a shemagh( a large rag) would cause somebody to get violent with all the Iraq and Afghanistan vets that are running around that used one for days/weeks/months because of the heat and dust. It doesn't seem like a stretch to use one over here for the same reason.

your choice tho. I just don't worry too much what other people think of what I wear.

I see them used regularly by LE/Military guys so I do not see the violent, offensive, political issues mentioned above.

With current events being what they are, I fully agree with the below statement. I guess I'm a redneck, I'm fine with that.

Then you should have a red bandanna on, which isn't much more than a shemagh by another name anyways!

I use one all the time usually around my waist or as a hat of sorts..
its a possibles bag
a ground cloth
binding
hat
belt
scarf
sling or cravat for first aid apps
limited only by your imagination
simple equipment with a myriad of uses... hard to beat.
