but I ended up wanting one.
(My husband bought it for me. He encourages me!)
My husband and I came home from our nature walk and drive and we swung by one of our larger sporting goods store to check out some meat grinders. I like it when he is on vacation! Woo hoo!
I had a brief list of some things that I wanted to look at besides the meat grinders.
We looked at a very pretty CASE brand folding knife set in a red bone (Trapper set.) while I was there at the knife counter. Sweet!
My husband loves my former BUCK 55 and 110 folding knives that I gave him and he kept a few of his absolute favorite VERY traditional folding knives with all of this gifting/selling of knives this past year. He likes his two V. Swiss Army knives too!
So I still look at traditional folding knives with him online and in person even I do not use them any longer due to my hand issues.
Anyway, they still did not have that pretty BUCK Frontiersman #124 FB knife to try out in our hands.
I tried out several knives in the Ka-Bar and Ontario Brand. They do not have a huge selection and I looked at these in the past. I liked a few of them. There is one specific Ontario knife that we may get for the kitchen too. I will have to order that online.
Long story short - I should never say never as a lady who is getting into knives more over time!
I ended up LIKING the Ka-Bar #1211 knife even though it was a bit more modern with the 'handle material' and it had a coated knife blade. I got the straight edge one. NY-USA made but the sheath was from another country.
(This knife does not have the leather handle like my husband's former C. AF-Pilot survival knife with the sheath and stone. Nam era.)
I like this Ka-Bar! So I should never say 'never' on specific knives.
Here is my present knife list:
Buck Ranger Skinner #113 FB Knife = My every single day carry knife.
Buck Woodsman #102
Buck #119 Special
Buck Vanguard
2 Buck PakLite Skinner Knives
1 Ka-Bar #1211 Knife (Bed side table knife. I switched knives here. My flashlight and eyeglasses are on the same table on my side of the bed. He has his own flashlight, pistol and knife by his side of the bed.)
Estwing Camp Axe
Sog Fasthawk
By the way, my husband's newer R.P. Martin-ID custom made - fixed blade knife with the Damascus blade and the cocobolo handle came out perfect! He had his MT knife maker friend put on the handle and this is the second MARTIN blade that my husband has bought. He wants to get a couple more from MARTIN at the next knife show. I helped him pick out the wood and everyone told my husband that it was absolutely perfect for that knife! It turned out as beautiful as his Martin Damascus ICE JAM pattern with the black walnut handle.
(I know that I should get a photo account to put these up. Susan-Tal has seen a bunch of our knives in my old emails (Pictures!) that my husband helped me with over the last several months.)
