Just wondering. I've been thinking about getting a sportkilt. If you do, do you wear skivvies or go au natural?

I'm actually wearing one right now. Depends on where I'm going to be and how windy it is going to be as to whether or not I wear anything under it.

I ran my own business making kilts for about 6 years. Fantastic for outdoor use. However some people have purchased them thinking they would be cool and not realizing how much fabric goes into a standard kilt not to mention the weight. They are going to be heavier than you expect due to the pleats. When you buy yours check the fabric. If you are in a warmer area stick to the 10oz to 12 oz area. If in a colder area move to the 16 oz plus weight. A lot of places are doing canvas kilts and what not. It all depends on what exactly you are using it for. If you have any questions about a particular kilt you are looking at please feel free to email me.

That is actually the issue I have with my kilt; it's black and a heavy acrylic. Not really ideal for summer wear, also I'd be a little (more )worried about ticks.

And just as a heads up, if you want a kilt for WS&S reasons, you might want to address them in your post. As is, the original post doesn't appear to have anything to do with WS&S and may get moved.

What are the benefits, beside representing heritage and drawing attention? And I would pray that all men wearing those wear underwear of some kind :barf:. Never understood them, Enlighten me.

you don't have to shave ur legs to ware a kilt, though i prefer shorts or some ripstop bdu's for my woodsbumming and hiking...

What are the benefits

Primarily breathability - good for both hot weather, and very wet weather, as they keep your junk from chafing. Crotch rot is NOT fun on the trail.

I prefer other approaches to keep my nether regions dry, but a kilt is definitely an effective solution.

I do hear that they keep the boys nice and cool. I also hear that lipstick helps protect the lips from the sun. Not yet ready to wear either one. ;)

Man, I'm glad I live in a very dry climate... Biggest issue I have is chafing, and bag balm fixes that at the end of the day. I see a few people wearing kilts around town on a day to day basis though...

If it were socially acceptable here in the States , I would probably wear one....

probably.

hmm....

I was in The Argyles and Sutherland Highlander Regiment of Canada (Princess Louise), for many years.
Line Infantry regiment.

Love kilts, just free balling in the wind whilst carrying me C-7 (M-16) off to war.

In a Scottish regiment you go au natural.
If you get caught wearing skivvies, you'll be buying the entire regiment a round at the mess.
And yes the RSM, CSM, or any other nco will inspect. Strange shit happens in a Scottish regiment, strange stuff:eek:.

Supposedly, they're the shiznit in grizzly country.

Cause you can sh!t yourself and run at the same time.
