Anyone wear a kilt?

having worn skirts n dresses often
theres nothing(cept nothing!) cooler on hot summer days

my buddy george, a local blacksmith, wears a leather kilt while working
and lighter fabric ones all summer long
he is a BIG burly man with a beard and lots of black fur on his legs
dont think anyone would give george shit about his skirt.....
my personal opinion-he looks damn fine in that kilt

I have a poly-viscose one. Rather hot in the summer (Black Watch doesn't help that much either). Have a Mountain Hardwear nylon Mountain Kilt, which is a little cooler, but a bit tight on my gut anymore. Looking forward to trying out a lightweight wool one, or maybe a Utilikilt, when I scare up the $...

I have a Utilikilt, a couple made by Lip Service and one made by Tripp.

Utilikilts are awesome and worth the cash, plus there are big pockets on them and you can carry a lot of stuff. The Tripp has pockets and aren't as well made as compared, but then again I got mine for 15 bucks at Hot Topic of all places, so quality wasn't exactly a big factor there. The Lip Service ones aren't that bad, but there just are no pockets which just sucks in general.

http://www.neokilt.com/custom.html These guys make kilts with a CCW holster built in. (I'm thinking that's the next option for me)

Also why wear anything under a kilt, it's just too damn hot out anyways.

I imagine that wearing a kilt would be like wearing a kimono, not that I have worn either of those garments but both seem like they would allow for free movement and a good way to keep cool.

Utilikilts are great. Workman is made of same stuff as carhart. The original is the lightest. The survival has the most pockets, costs the most and is my favorite. Utilikilts are worn at the hips like jeans etc. Check out sport kilt. sport kilt has both traditional fit (around the waist, right at belly button level) and modern fit. For semi-traditional to traditional kilts, check out USA kilts. Rocky makes custom fit kilts and there is always a 4 week to 2 month wait. In the kilt world regimental = commando and is proper method of operation for the kilt. I highly encourage anyone to go to www.xmarksthescot.com to find out all there is know about kilts.

I have a Neokilt, with the CCW pocket, it houses a m&p 40. The only drawback (of sorts) to wearing a kilt , for me at least, is when driving. Seems to flap alot over 40, causing a few looks for passing vehicles. One of these days I will try it with the doors on the Jeep.

I think kilts are for young fellows.
Now that I've passed my half-century I find that when I sit down naked, my goolies hit the deck before my butt.
So a mini-kilt (as in mini-skirt) would be out of the question for me!
But the real issue is that I now need some support into which I can plop me gonads before setting out for the day. Else those darn boys are all over the place!
How does one surreptitiously "adjust" oneself through a thick, heavy plaid kilt?

wait till no is looking, and go for it. Keep in mind though that if one is regimental then the need to adjust doesn't happen nearly as much if at all. :o

Before ya sit, put your legs together, once seated do whatcha want, you won't hae sat on 'em.

C'mon , Kilts ?! Are you serious ?

i mean Im sure they have theyre up sides ( :P) but theres a reason most people wear a trouser variant in day to day life. They are just more practical .
Whats next tactical greek soldiers outfits ? (the ones like a tutu with pompoms ) Tartan manbags ? werent the original kilts more like a toga ? why not go all the way and wear a toga type kilt ? Isnt that a 'real' kilt , like how they were originally ? The whole kilt with dinner jacket look makes me wanna puke . (cue proclaimers track )
Wasp fly up the kilt , no thanks , bull ant up the kilt no thanks , gust of wind ,,, ride horse , motorcycle in a kilt ??
How bout one of those really big floppy french mountain troop berets to complete the look ?
Until questions like these are adressed wearing a kilt is a cry for attention as far as I can see.

Never mind one of the other advantages of wearing a kilt are all the strange ladies that like to walk by and cop a feel.

I wear a kilt but I wear it low on my ass so my man g string hangs out the top. I wander around Walmart and pick up invisible quarters from the floor in front of women. Chicks dig it.

It is a well known fact that Females love a man in a kilt.

Checked with wife - man in kilt = sexy
man in tartan mini-skirt = not sexy

AHA - but what is really the difference ??

I am just looking at this from a practical standpoint. As far as I can see a Trouser type variant is he way to go in almost every situation. (unless flashing hikers down trail is your thing) Pretty sure back in the day Everybody wore a kilt/toga type thing. Trousers were invented as a garment for riding , they came with people who had tamed horses . Theyve been adopted by the planet because they are more practical.

Even fugly females like a kilt -- and if you need a kilt for attention from the ladies ....
