I should have known that if we tried to have a decent chat thread it would turn into nothing more than an argument or pictures of women.
 
It's a bit misleading calling it an "anything goes" thread then.

Has anyone actually made a survival bow and arrows, that shoot reliably? I want to make one but from the few YouTube videos I found, none are impressive.
 
No, you misunderstand. Anything does go but I figured our membership had more imagination than to only argue and post pics of women.
 
I would vote to close the thread if it continues in this direction...I dont mind pics of chicks but this was designed to be an off shoot of "hey buddy in the design thread post # XX is sweet but I would do this........
or I think Tony's PSK are neat but I would do this.... or something
 
Thinking self-sufficiency and pets -

how do you feed your cats and dogs?

I have two cats, and they thrive on a diet of quality cat food (both wet and dry) and raw meat. So should they have to stay at a clinic they can be fed with normal cat food, but at home they enjoy their fresh meat and fledglings ... both catch mice, one of them also brings home doves ...

(I know cats can be pretty self reliant, but I think I'd like to be able to bribe them into staying around, so I won't have to share the fruit of my garden with the mice and rats - and in the long run I can only imagine doing that in trapping small animals, thus feeding raw meat.)

Gotcha.

So anyone make that survival bow I asked about? Not a bow drill, but one that can be used for hunting and protection, etc. :thumbup: if you have, especially if it's a reliable one that shoots accurate.

I don't think I'd eat my cats, and I feel I'm responsible for them, no matter what happens. And a dog can be even more useful.

Some of the vets here are striktly against feeding cats and dogs raw meat (they want to tell you, you cannot give them all they need - and they get worms and all sorts of deseases by eating raw meat)

Working at a company that manufactures pet food, I can tell you that the dry food mainly consists of grain. I would think if you fed your pets bread/biscuits from grains ground fresh at home, with a little gravy they would get enough of the good stuff to stay healthy. Also if you raise any animal for milk (cows, goats, some types of sheep) your dogs and cats will appreciate a little at each milking.
