I tend to prefer bigger dogs...i would like to have a great dane, do they slobber much Tripton?

Not really. If you are eating something and teasing him, he gets all Pavlovian and will drool will run out of his mouth.

Also, after he gets a drink and lifts his head, the floor gets soaked...especially if you interrupt him while he is drinking.

He has huge jowls, but it isnt as bad as what I thought it would be. NOTHING like that Dogue de Bordeaux in Turner and Hooch. :D

 I'm STILL doing homework. I'm done algebra but this anatomy is a lot of work. I will not be coasting through this semster like I did last :grumpy:

one thing to help with the anatomy - memorize and recite to yourself the bones, bony processes, and muscles you are abusing at each station on your workout.

I have a background in anatomy. I am a certified massage therapist. It's not the content. It's the amount of work they give.

Hey dinozo,

I know that you were not implying that the breed was dumb.

Just sharing my experience with a wonderful breed.

Back to the Dachshund's!

My best friend had little killer of one growing up and they lived in the fishing village of Steveston. Lots of abandoned canneries and buildings along with the ones just hanging on. Rat central.

They could take Charlie the mighty mite to a warehouse with some beer and he would kill dozens of rats. He would walk along and cock an ear, then run in and dispatch them with a quick ragdoll. Then he would listen again and find the nest, carefully pull out each one...crunch...drop and repeat. Under racks, up over piles of junk, he was relentless.
We started reading about the professional rat dogs back many years ago and they would have terriers that would kill sometimes 200 rats individually in a single night.
I work in pest control now and wish PETA (and public opinion) would let me have a ratdog but cleanup of the floor and dog was interesting
Man charlie would festoon himself with goodness sometimes with a rupture on the death shake.
Pretty fun for 15 with beer and boredom.

Cool story Brad.

Did you know dachshunds were bred to hunt badgers?

There are trials around the country, where they send the dachshund down a hole, thru a maze of tunnels to locate the objective.

I have one that has cost me to buy a dead chicken or two.
