Yeah ... Haley Williams is by far the best singer out there ! Taylor Swift aint bad herself ... which is the girl in the blue hat ... :p

I feel good.

I just paid off 4 credit cards, my car insurance for 6 months, all my bills for the month AND best of all my account isn't empty :D.

Exactly 7 years ago the mr and I were sitting in the PICU with Kaela, who was 11 months old, waiting to see if she would be ok after her open heart surgery.

Your daughter had open heart surgery?
My little brother had that when he was 3 days old. And he is still going strong.

I just applied for a new job - doing similar to what i do currently, but 90 minute commute.
would be a significant raise, though, so here's hoping!

Hey everyone, big sale at REI right now, whole bunch of stuff 50% off!

ETA: Ah, well it's a sale but I thought it was their annual clearance, that sale is awesome, and they sale most everything at 50% off to make room for the new editions. Got me a nice rei brand therma-rest for $16 last year.

I can't imagine going through that. Our little boy has been sedated 3 times before the age of 3 for a CT scan and two MRI's. I was a nervous wreck although I tried not to act like it.

I hope it goes well! You deserve a huge raise. :)

Yes. She was 11 months old when we went to an appt and they said we're going to have to operate now. 2 weeks later she was under the knife. She had ASD (atrial septic defect- a whole btwn the top two chambers of her heart. it was 2 cm) and PDA (patent ductucs arteriosis- it was causing oxygenated and unoxygenated blood to circulate to her lungs). They repaired her ASD with a piece of pericardium (the "balloon" that surrounds the heart) and they tied off the PDA.

At her last echo the cardiologist said a highly trained tech would have a hard time knowing she had open heart surgery by just looking at the heart on an echo. The only giveaway is the scar on her chest. I was VERY happy to hear that. We got very lucky and had a world renowned heart surgeon. We almost didn't get him either. He was booked for months and they told us we didn't have months. He happened to cancel a business trip and booked the OR for 1 day of surgery and had 1 spot left. I think the room got brighter when he walked in to tell us her surgery went well.

that is good Mrs S. yeah my little brother had to have a similar procedure done, his oxygenated blood wasnt being circulated, hence his limbs were blue. my parents found out that the doctor who pioneered the type of heart surgery that my little brother needed was at UCLA. he went there when he was three days old got his surgery and now he is fine. a lot of kids that have the procedure he did are sickly and their growth is stunted. my little brother is a tall kid and isnt sickly. it was just one of those little things that change the course of your life. the only thing he cant do is strain himself, ie no contact sports.

my youngest niece has something called.... PAPVR... partial anomolous pulmonary venous return. she's 3 years old and under 25 pounds. rotten to the core, too.

since she was born, there's been one thing after another. doctors find a hole in the heart, schedule something to study it, it's gone, but there's something else. that went on for a year and a half, until they stumbled upon a vein that transfers old blood from one side of her heart to the other (PAPVR). it's normally not found until the patient suddenly dies of heart failure. we think there's a reason doctors found it so early.

Good to hear she is doing well. We got lucky, other than being stubborn as an ox my daughter is healthy. Her aunt and uncle
both have aspergers. We were worried she would have it. So far no symptoms.

I'm familiar with Aspergers because our pediatrician thought our boy might have Apert's syndrome but really all those syndromes have symptoms that can cross over. It turns out they think he has Crouzon's sydrome. We're lucky because he has a very mild case. Some people think he looks different, some people don't notice. Our biggest concern is that his skull has fused early. The neurosurgeon can't explain how but his head is still growing so his brain still has room. We just have to keep an eye on his head measurements and pray that he won't need surgery. We know that God is in control. The boy is smart as can be, maybe the smartest 2 1/2 year old I've ever met. Of course all parents probably say that.

Otis - that niece is a cutie!

I get to go have a CT scan monday. (today was my annual physical)
I hate hospitals - but at least it's a quick test so I can go back to work afterwards.

lingering antibiotic resistant sinus infection.
I also have a scrip for 30 days of avelox to see if that fixes it.
