part way through the semester i turned him in to the dean of the eng department for not teaching. it's an online course and he stopped posting. After i called I went from A's to C's and now this failing grade. I don't write failing papers. Not trying to sound cocky but it's just not me.

I have again called the dean of the eng department b/c HE failed to teach. I'm waiting for the dean to call me back. I'm asking for teh class to be wiped from my transcript so I can take it over again w/ a prof that's capable of teaching.

In the mean time I'm extremely upset over the fact that i could lose my grants, and it effects my ability to apply for the nursing program. If this guy doesn't get fired I think I'll change colleges.

Thats really sucks, my wife went through some of the same crap. When she was going through Nursing School. Just keep going at it. It doesn't get better. Her and I are both going through grad school right now. It seems the higher in school you go the harder and more lazy the profs get.
 
I'm going RN for now. I need to nail down certain things in order to prep myself in case I want to get my masters. While I may still pass this class I'm not at all equipped to take the next course.

Sorry to hear about that Katie. I read your other post too. I hope you get the Dean to help you out.
 
Im sure there are more RN forum members out there, my wife & I are both RNs, she works in Pedi ICU and Im in SICU, if we could help in any way please let us know. Nursing school was very "Ideal" and not real world oriented, but it was fun and I still miss it. If you drop or withdraw from the course, will it effect your situation negatively? I remember a withdrawl from a class was better than a failing grade. Am I mistaken?
 
Damn, our daughter just called - it is 9pm here, pitch dark, and some guy doesn't stop following her ... hubby is on his way ... I hope that thug stays away from her ... would be healthier for him ...

Just a few days ago some thugs mugged and beat up a girl near there ...

She is ok. My hubby never saw him. We rather rush getting her, than have a kind but sad LEO stand in front of our door ... or her not coming home ...

yeah...she seemed like a total asshat. "he's been a good prof for a number of years here." ugh honey, that's b/c ppl that have no interested in working take his course! she also told me that nursing students often take the class over and over to get an A for their program requirement. I said had your prof taught how to properly do things I woulnd't need to take it over to get and A. I'd have one right now!

a withdrawl at this point would be failing. I'll take the final and accept the grade I'm given. Thanks a bunch for the offer. I might take you up on it when i get in the program.

as far as my class and my grade. I did go through all my grades. I'd have to do horrible on the final (which i'm worried about the writing part b/c he obviously is pissed at me) to fail the course. I have to get damn near perfect grade to get an A in the class. so pray to the engl gods (in your best eng of course) that i do well. i'm off to take the final now.

AND for the record. The mr is the best husband ever! he came home from work early b/c i was so upset and he's getting the kids so i can wrap up shitbags class.

Sorry to hear about your class, some professors just suck. Stupid that they'd mess with your grade just because you went to the dean. But of course they don't want to have their reputation ruined so they have to do something to save face... My math professor was a terrible teacher, he'd talk people to sleep and never really taught. He also grades on a curve, so. When I went to the "rate my professor" site he had a good score, terrible teacher though.

seems as if the teachers that grade on curves are all asshats.


despite my asking the school NOT to contact him til final grades were in he must have got wind that i was PISSED! i got an email from him telling him i could correct my essay and resubmit it. I have til 11:59 tomorrow night to do so. guess what i'm off to do?:barf:

Keep your head up and your eye on the prize, and you will get through it. The offer stands, when you need it, lets us know how we can help, we will.

Goodness. If he's any kind of asshat it seems he's a full-blown sombrero. :barf:

At least he's willing to look at it again, even if he's making you do the degrading thing of "revising" it. :thumbdn:
 
Good luck on the revised paper, wonder if you turn in the exact same paper would he notice?

I had a teacher in high school that hated me because I was a Jr in a sr english classes and I was taking college classes at the same time. I let it slip that my college english class teacher was having us write the same type of paper and I had given her a revised paper from that class. She looked at me tore it in half and told me to write another paper by 3 the next day. So I just re-gave her the same paper and she gave me an B. She said it would have been an A if I would have done a "new" paper the first time.

if you come up needing assistance with any of your classes drop me an email.
I can recall having similar issues with a "humanities/lit" prof - some days I think it may be the species.
