well see it from my point of view, you join today and have a lot of posts in ESEE, from my past experience, that is a dead ringer for a person post rackin,

i dont do that kinda stuff, and im not keyed up.

Get ahold of yourself man...you are not the Jack Bauer of the forum.

Considering I'll be turning 21 in 24 days, I'm starting to research options for CCW pistol. I'll probably end up getting a license in both VA and PA so it gives me a lot of coverage in other states.

So far some of the guns I'm looking into are:
Glock 23 .40SW
Glock 27 .40SW
Glock 30 .45ACP (double stack...apparently feels like a brick)
Glock 36 .45ACP (single stack)
Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro .45ACP
XD40 Subcompact
XD45 compact

I'm gonna go to come gun shops on Friday to check out as much as I can, and I've been doing tons of online research.

Money is probably the biggest limiting factor now since I'm a student and no job. EEK!

XD...had XDs for years, love em.

Screw plastic framed pistols... show me a quality plastic framed pistol without MIM guts that costs less than a metal framed pistol with cnc machined or forged guts. The only one I know of is the Walther P99 and it gets a bunch of gripes about the grip being too small. But apparently it's OK for a milk jug plastic Glock to have a fatty 2 inch long grip... people don't complain about that. And if you're not a pansy, get a .357 SIG or 10mm, it puts everything else to shame as far as performance and energy transfer

357 sig and 10mm are expensive man, a 9mm or 45acp would be more affordable, and polymer guns are just fine,

for barbie dolls. There's a reason the 1911 has been the premier combat sidearm for the last 100 years... and other than Bul Transmark and a couple of 4,000 dollar race guns, nobody makes them in plastic.

im not dissin any metal gun, i love 1911's and polymers, but seriously 10mm and 357 sig is expensive, a good 45 would be fine.

And BUL is forgiven because they reduce muzzle climb down to two degrees even with the plastic frame with their awesome gas compensation system. Plus they're israeli, which automatically makes them badass.

Just my $0.02 I would look into the M&P from S&W. Judging by the pistols you are already looking at you would prob dig this one as well.

And check out the P99, it comes in a full or compact size, 9mm and 40 S&W. and it's first parts start to fail at about 100,000 rounds...

No, but if you prep ahead of time there's no difference in availability... you'll always have it on hand. I packed a SIG P226 that could group 2 inches at 75 yards, with combat reliability. That's pretty rediculous for a handgun.

Most likely I'll end up getting something in .40SW. It seems to be a great round with plenty of "stopping power" but its also considerably cheaper than .45ACP.

I'll checkout the other guns you guys recommended, thanks! Ideally I'd like to keep it under $450. I'll buy used if I need to, assuming its in good condition. A good gun isn't going to break with a few hundred rounds through but it may save me a hundred $$!

Keep the ideas coming!

used g22 can be found in the $430 range in good shape. (police trade in)
Stoeger cougar (licensed copy of the Beretta 8040 - made on the machines they sold to stoeger) can be found under $450 new. Used is $50-75 less, and it's a metal frame with no trigger safety.
the XD40 is a nice shooter. had an xd45 and hated the trigger - but the xd45 seems to be one of those "you either got a good one or you didn't" kind of deals.
occasionally a sig 229 will show up on the used market under $500 -- that would be a good one, too.

when you're looking into CCW licenses, check out the Utah & Florida licenses -- they're reciprocal with a LOT of the country.
