Anybody remember the last time CS came out with something new? GEC's cranking 'em out like hotcakes. What's happening over there at Canal Street?

Check your rear view mirror......Canal Street just introduced the "Pinch" a lock back version of the Half Moon with A.G.

I hadn't seen the Pinch - have to confess I only skimmed my AGR catalog. Wasn't aware of the Ka-Bars but had seem the Jacks (nice stable by the way). I guess the see their niche differently than GEC sees theirs. I'd like to see more CS patterns generally.

only saw the jack actually, didn't see the others

some new would't hurt imo too, their quality is good actually, only bad thing is that had to hamer both mine as they had some play and had to sand the pin afterwards

GEC is obviously the groupies favorite step child for this particular forum but is hardly the industry leader in the country. Canal Street produces some fine knives and are getting better at it. It could be the competition from GEC and other companies, there are a lot of them, is helping knife manufacturers "toe the mark" which is good for all of us but GEC is only a single player in the game.
Rusty, I have one of the Swell Center Jacks from Canal Street and consider it to be one fine piece. Good heft and D-2 blades.

I picked up a stag Jack knife from AG along with a sheath. It's a good thing, this one is a whopper! The flat butt sets it off and mine has no etch on the blade. It is being carried and used... on a limited basis.

I love the size Greg. Feels great in the hand + the D2 blades really sets them off.

Well, a lockback version of the Half Moon is probably a good idea given the knife already has very soft springs.....

Russell, what a great post ! A few non-specific humble words followed by a stunning picture of 6 elegant beauties. I think you like this pattern ?
I have the Puau (sp ?) handled one but it's too fine for me to have the guts to use it.
What is the '2-tone' handle material middle on the left ?

I saw the one on their website that was for sale for over a year. The one that never came to be. The one that became the model in your pictures. I kind of wrote them off for being a bootleg outfit after that.

You have six different handles there. They show one on their website. What club do you have to be in to know that these were ever even made?

I agree. The Canal Street Cutlery website is very poor. Shows only a handful of knives yet they have made quite a few patterns and in many different handles.
If they had more of a GEC style website their sales would definitely increase.
Too bad because they've got some of the most experienced cutlers turning out first rate top quality knives.

Roland...that would be Buffalo Horn..and so far the pattern has been made in Sambar stag ,Pearl,Green jigged bone,Elk ,Reclaimed Chestnut,Puau ( Green Abalone ),Amber bone and Rams Horn...I don't think I missed any...
The pattern is also used by Moore Maker though the blades being used are the standard trapper blades.

Stu...no club card necessary..they're all available minus the Stag Founder's Day and Elk at a CSC dealer

Agreed that they don't advertise their new patterns or handle materials very well. You kinda have to hunt them down.

Just keeping ears and eyes open, checking forums, websites that carry CSC knives, which I don't think we are allowed to mention direct on these pages.

Roland. the Chestnut Buffalo Horn is really different than the usual black that you see mostly, I like the tan fleck at the bolster end too.
