Anything New from Canal Street?

Regarding the CSC Pinch - will they be offering other handle materials besides Stag?

And I fully agree that CSC needs to get someone more internet savvy in their marketing department. Improving the website & increasing their presence online would definitely help their sales.

Canal Street makes all their own knives, mostly by hand is my understanding. I would like to see CS pin the shields, and use slightly stronger main springs. Absolutely love my stockman. Customer service is the best I have seen. Where else the CEO field phone calls regularly?

Good to know, I've had my eye on their stockmans for a while. I might have to pull the trigger now.

I was going to put this in the Just Stag thread but this thread seems to be a better spot.

Stelth, Canal Street Cutlery was formed after Schrade USA folded, mostly by former Schrade employees. So, although CSC is a new company, they have a vast amount of experience making knives. It is the new continuation of the Schrade legacy.

Thanks. rprocter. I knew there was a Schrade connection, but I didn't know if they actually made their knives or just contracted them.

Looks like they are making 5 new models for Ka-Bar, each with two handle materials. Including a lockback trapper, and their small drop point FB hunter.

They are fully capable of a tailstand. I would imagine that just by looking at them you could tell that they would. I really don't know what good or benefit that would add, but they can.
Maybe in a poker game it would be something to show everybody?

+1 for a CSC pinch in another scale material, preferably smooth. The D2 is pretty compelling though.

The lack of current website is one of the reasons that CSC is slightly off of my knife radar.

Post-Script: does anyone own a Pinch? I am curious to learn how thick it is? A side shot would be great as well.

Have always been a Schrade fan. I still carry a Schrade lockback. That CS stuff is really sweet.

So far the Pinch has been produced in stag and chestnut (chestnut is Kabar), and rolling out the door in a day or two will be 25-30 stunning pearl examples. They won't be cheap as they're full pearl covers, not venners. Eventually there'll be more handle materials, likely sunset bone, stag bone, buffalo horn, maybe osage orange and ebony too. The dimensions are pretty nearly the same as the single blade trapper as far as thickness (approx. 3/8", maybe a bit more). There's a large lockback on the horizon, as well as two new fixed blades, but that's likely a few months down the road.

Right now they've got: 4" stockman, 4" muskrat, 4" hawbaker muskrat (limited edition), 2 blade trapper, single blade trapper, canittler, swell center jack, large folding hunter, pinch, drop point fixed blade, D'Holder drop point fixed blade, D'Holder fixed blade Bowie Hunter, 1873 Bowie (a big'un), plus, if you can find them, they made for Kabar a couple of years ago a swing guard hunter and an elephant toenail (both of which I'd REALLY like to see them put into regular production!! hint to CS :D).

The Pinch looks great, and about the same size as the old 194OT. I'll have to pinch one up! ;)

Osage orange scales on a trad folder would be very, very awesome.

Without mentioning any names, there is a retailer currently selling some osage orange handled Canal Street knives, one of which is the three blade stockman, and another out of Texas selling it on trappers. Google it under "Bois D Arc", which is another name for it.

PS- Try Ebay too

I guess that means one in awhile, we all have to leave the keyboard and actually visit a b&m store. The horror.
