Took these two to our local knifemakers club meeting last week and only got a "ho hum" out of folks...just wondering. Maybe I need to change my last name to Loveless or something. Always trying to improve my work though and would appreciate any constructive criticisim here.

Top knife is bead blasted CPM154CM with Elk handle. Got the shed on my last elk hunt this past fall! Stabilized maple spacer. I made the sheath.

Bottom is Thunderforged damascus, same elk handle, spacer, etc. I made that sheath too.

Think they're both good looking and clean. Sorry you didn't get good reviews, did anyone offer criticism on them or just turn away?

I know exactly what the problem is. There is no naked babe mark on the sides of the two knives. All kidding aside they both look real good but pretty ordinary looking. Trying to figure out what will turn heads is half the battle. Try this approach. Bring a case of beer and offer it first. Then show the knives.

Those look just fine to me, perhaps those at your knifemaker's club have some kind of negative bias and are just plain jealous of your fine work here.

Yes, a few rhinestones would go a long way towards sprucing those up. (make sure to lisp when saying "sprucing");)

All joking aside, those are great looking knives from where I'm sitting:thumbup:

Regards,

Dave

Everyone else is just being nice! Ship them to me and I will keep them up here in CT. so you do not have to think about them! Beautiful knives

Yea i agree theyre awful..just send them my way and ill hide them forever..seriously though..they look as good as 4 aces from here brother..and who cares who doesnt like them..do you like them? thats the point..guarantee someone will buy em and cherish them..later Luke

I think they are pretty sweet.

Though personaly I would prefer to see your makers mark on the ricasso and not on the grind.

The others at you local knifemakers club must make some pretty awesome knives for them to consider those ho-hum. My guess is they're either envious or they've been in the game for a while and are not easily excited.

I'll certainly give you an attaboy for those. I think they look great  Like AcridSaint said, " clean ". Good looking sheath work too.

I wish my knives were as ho hum as yours, I'm tired of making knives with character.;)

I personally would be honored to have either one of those knives. Clean lines, good choice of materials, clean finishes...what more can I say?

I don't know where their heads were at?

I haven't a clue what criticisim to offer. They both look really great.

"All kidding aside they both look real good but pretty ordinary looking" Thanks for the comments folks. The "pretty ordinary" comment is a fair one, as I mainly build functional knives. I have made a good number of knives, but don't really delve into the wild and crazy stuff like some folks do. Down here in South Georgia it is primarily a hunting and fishing crowd....$175-$200 sheath knives are about the upper end of what will sell here, assuming I can get them past the $35 Wal Mart special mentality. I have made some very nice (By my accounts) Bowies and they just sit there. Below is a pretty decent Bowie and my handmade sheath and it took FOREVER to move it...and I had to really drop my bottom line price at that. It just ticks me off because the knife and sheath, well, you end up with a ton of time, etc invested in it.

Have a great one and thanks again for the comments. Any constructive criticisim is certainly encouraged.
