"Apocalaxe" -- by Council Tool

It was the 'upscale beer' bottle opener feature on this ominous tool that really caught my eye. Tells me a man's gotta be properly primed before he uses one of these! Next generation, and Unisex version, ought to feature a fingernail file and eyelash trimmer.
Sorry, that comment was made in jest but a porch board just let go under my rocking chair while I was trying to type this out.

If anything really hit the fan, depending on which fan you're under, wouldn't that just be a cruel reminder of the cold beer you don't have?

One might think that combining beer and axes is generally a bad idea, but as everyone knows beer is a necessity at a BBQ and anyone who has seen me cook (burn) a BBQ would tell you you might need the axe to cut the meat.

What to sell a man who already has a hammer, axe, bottle-opener, and paperweight. I mean you can only sell a man so many hammers before he says he isn't buying anymore. :D

I'm SOOO disappointed with Council Tool right now.
I've heard a couple things via their facebook page, they'd drop a "It's coming" every month for the past 2 months or so.

Then they release... this?

Personally I think they missed the Tacticool bandwagon by about 5 years, much like Estwing. I mean remember back when we were kicking down doors in places and we needed something to beat on that was relatively cheap yet indestructible? Not that many of those folks bought things to do that, as they had items issued, but there was a following among armchair warriors that bought untold piles of this stuff.

I was really looking forward to a sub-$100 axe that would be packable. Maybe a 5160 machete, or a 'Merican Billhook.

I guess I have to find another place for my Christmas present.

As soon as the Chinese ship in a few million copies of this wonder tool, it will be discontinued by Council. You should be able to pick up a copy at your local pacific rim store for under a Hamilton. Heck, you might even be able to pick up a copy at your local dollar store. +1 on the 5160 machete (they could even put a bottle opener on it).

This is a rough concept sketch I had sent Margo last year.

I hear that, but their standard line is solid enough to turn a blind eye for some market experimentation. Everyone else had a chance in the last few years ;)

A friend of mine astutely noted that "Apocalaxe" sounds like an industrial-strength laxative. Now I can't keep chuckling. Whoops.

It MAKES it hit the fan. You know, for when you're feeling pent up from waiting for it to happen naturally. :D

It kinda erkes me that they can't produce any additional axe patterns because the dies are too expensive, but they can produce a much more complicated die to produce this "thing". That being said, I hope they sell a bunch of them for a huge profit because anything that helps support the manufacture of domestic axes is good in my book.

I'd love to hear that a 'rafting' axe (hardened poll) was resurrected. Seems nobody makes them anymore and yet one of those would definitely be very handy.

Yes please. In multiple handle lengths. I'd buy one or two personally.

I've been holding my breath for this for the last couple years... It's not going well.

I may get one of these just to have. The sheath is beautiful...

At $115 it's a little tough to swallow unless you really have need of the specific mix of features this tool has.

Is there a chance that they have some contracts in place for these and they are doubling up to make them available to the market as well?

I doubt contracts would call for a bottle opener, but who knows? :D
