Apocalypto & Mel Gibson

It's still not on theaters in Mexico, should come out soon though.

As I mentioned I was there at the time they were filming, I took these pictures of the waterfall, the whole area is very nice.

The movie's waterfall scene is a classic; it has a credible solution for how to go about motivating your direct reports.

Those are great pics. It is a beautiful area.

Here's a subliminal from the teaser for the movie. It's only this one single frame. See it here. The screenshot shows you where it will appear. You will have to go frame by frame to catch it.http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/apocalypto/ Watch the teaser not the trailer

Yes, it's true I have no life.

I've been watching some trailers, what's with the blue paint ?, leftover from Braveheart ?...

[just kidding]

- So there I was watching the Eyipantla falls, when I noticed something falling, what was that ?...

- This half naked fellow with piercings came out of the river, he looked scared and hurt, I asked him, are you all right ?...

- He mumbled some strange words, he pointed at my camera and at me, nice gesture I thought, and said, would you take my picture ?...

- He took the camera and took a shot, gave it back... he stepped back and shouted something up to the falls as if he was giving a speech, then he turned around and went out running like crazy, I didn't know what to do, I couldn't even thank him for the picture...

- I turned around to the falls and saw some more half naked weirdos jumping over, it was so strange... but now I understand.

[/just kidding]

He he, to continue the joke...

[just kidding]

- After all the strange guys were gone Mr. Gibson came out of the jungle screaming: Hey you got in the way, we'll have to see if we can edit you out.

- He kept looking at my beard, I thought: maybe I can get a part in the final scene... but he just asked: are you Jewish?.

[/just kidding]

I just came across this thread again. I watched Apocalypto over the Christmas break and it was a big mistake. Not because the movie sucked- the movie rocked. But I took my wife on Christmas day, because we had nothing better to do.

A word to wise husbands- don't take your wife to super-ultra-mega-violent movies on Christmas day! I loved the movie, but the wife was less than thrilled with me for taking her to it, especially on Christmas. I had no idea the movie was going to be so brutal! I would have gone by myself if I had known. Personally, I liked the violence. I found it interesting that the characters took the death and brutality so much in stride. When one of the guys chasing the main character gets bitten by a snake, the rest of the guys look at him and basically shrug their shoulders ("He's f**ked." was the quote) and move on.
I was wondering if this was a researched and accurate cultural characteristic, or if Mel Gibson was just being callous. Nobody in the movie seemed all that freaked out by the horrors surrounding them. They were very resigned about everything.

I don't know about you, but if somebody starts leading me up a pyramid where some dude is chopping off the heads of all the dudes painted up like me in line, I would go apesh*t! At very least, I would voice some concern to the guys next to me. But in the movie, the guys were lining up to be sacrificed like they were queing up at 7-11 to buy scratch lotto tickets!

Hmmm, I've seen several trailers, I've seen lots of stills, I've heard and read fairly detailed descriptions of some scenes, even saw some right there on location in their computers when they were editing (they had set some rooms in the hotel to work in and they always left the doors open) but haven't seen the movie yet.

He he, from what I've seen lately by Mel Gibson, maybe the next film will be about the Smurfs (blue skin) being caught and slaughtered, but they will win in the end.
