Apology to Jerry Busse

Hey Jerry,

As I'm sure you saw, many of us couldn't handle Gaston444's unsubstantiated bashing of Busse/Bussekin products while simultaneously promoting the products of others without any real credible evidence. I personally offered to showcase Busse/Bussekin performance superiority by proposing a YouTube chop-off and offering $100 if the Busse/Bussekin blade lost. I understand you mentioned that you only honor benchmark performance results when the original manufacturers are the ones executing. I can totally understand why --- obviously it's because only the manufacturers are in the best position to showcase optimal performance and allowing others to set performance benchmarks could potentially be damaging to the company's reputation if performed less than optimally.

This leads me to ask if you would prefer us to refrain from offering performance competitions on our own. I definitely don't want to do something the company wouldn't appreciate. At the same time -- I'd love nothing more than to showcase the performance superiority of many Busse/Bussekin products. Let me know what you think Bossman.

With Respect,

Rob Abyane

I'll stand beside you on this Rob. I was involved as well. My apologies to the Boss Hog. I will add....some of us as proud INFI owners have a "step to the plate" mentality and I personally get that "you wanna bet" attitude when I am challenged about a Busse blade. This may have played a good part in our defensive reaction. Glad this was haulted before it got too out of hand.

I will have to mention that the shameless plug for the B13 was nicely done!

When can we expect them to ship? :-)

I think one thing that would help would be releasing some current Busse factory testing data and/or video. 16-year-old data (I believe 1999 was the last year of "live" cutting demonstrations from Busse) is getting a little long in the tooth, and invites this kind of claim from others regardless of what Busse fans may say or do. There have been a lot of developments in blade steel over the last 16 years, and from recent posts here it seems even INFI has undergone some elemental changes and changes in heat treat protocols over that time. The lack of current test data published by Busse on its products makes it an easy target for this sort of attack IMHO.

I use Busse products because they've proven themselves over and over in my own field experience, but anecdotal evidence only goes so far these days when answering this kind of claim from "others".

This makes sense

Good idea. But what knife or knives to test?

Up to Busse--that's the point; who better than Jerry to design and perform testing that tells the true story?

psst...I was trying not to be obvious with another B13 reference, I had hoped someone else would run with it...

FWIW, I think it was one of the most civil steel discussions I've seen on BF for quite a while.

I think Will is really on to something... Some new Busse & 'Kin performance videos are definitely needed!

Carry on. OINK!!! :pig:

My understanding of Jerry's post, in the now locked thread, is that he doesn't discourage people from performing comparison test.
Only that those tests aren't valid tests, from a professional point of view.

Those tests are to be seen as entertaining and a reference point to the non-professional.
They show true enthusiasm and brand loyalty, based on people's experiences with Busse.

Why would a consumer need, or even seek permission, from the manufacturer of any product in order to talk about or otherwise review it?

No apologies necessary.

It's great to see the passion that you guys have for Busse blades. . .. We share the same passion.

INFI has stood unchallenged by any other manufacturer for 17 years. . .

We did the "LIVE" demonstrations to eliminate the enormous amount of hot air that used to float around the forums. . . . For the most part, it worked.

Let's get back to drinking!

Jerry
:D

I'm not apologizing for zhit. Just making sure all the douches go in the trash

It's all about the Kool-aid…. ;) :D

Not sure if you two are messing, but no one asked for permission to review. What I did ask (or mean to ask) was if the company would prefer me not to post a video on their home turf (Busse Combat sub forum). Gentlemen this is called being civil and showing respect for others. This is THEIR sub forum -- which is a lot like their home. We're guests here and fortunately they are gracious hosts for letting us say and do what we want to do. I don't think I'm sipping Kool Aid or being a fanboy by being respectful. Now if I have criticisms and I feel that they would be receptive to my criticisms here on their sub forum -- I would share it as I have in the past. I am a Busse fan -- not a fanboy. I enjoy Kool Aid --- not sipping on it. That is all.
