!!!Appreciation GAW!!! May 31/2020

Thanks for the generous giveaway, Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery !
Favorite knife? When I open a cigar box in the spare bedroom ~ Mrs Fleschwund made me move them in there because they multiply when the lights go off at night~ THAT’S when I pick my favorite knife for the day. Maybe, a TL-29... or a stockman. No. Maybe a trapper or a jack?

But two that are waaaay up on the list were gifts from two fine friends given in honor of my late son. @Chief, and r8shell r8shell gave me two knives that could easily be all I need. A 43 Oregon Trapper from Chief, and a yellow Schrade 881Y Stockman, along with a teeny little SW Stockman that has displaced my Peanut from the little guitar pick pocket in my Wranglers from r8shell. Thanks, John and Rachel!
Another friend to mention is Harry aka: @Old Engineer, who invited up to “his” Badger Knife Show, treated me like an old friend, and the second year at the same show, introduced me to Ron, @Half/Stop and @herder.
I look forward to the day I get to meet more folks from this here porch face to face. So many good people on here!

Good morning,

Thank you all for your entries, and most importantly, appreciating individual people on the Porch. In these times, it is uplifting to be appreciated publicly.

I just want to remind everyone of the rules...

1. Must have a minimum of 30 posts in the Traditional forum.
2.Must have a basic membership or higher.
3. The winner may not sell, but may pass it on to someone else.
4. I will cover shipping to the USA or Canada.
5. I will ship internationally, but winner must cover shipping. Also, please know your knife laws. I cannot be held responsible after I drop it in the mail. :(

If you aren’t a paying member of BF, there is still time! I will count entries that have a basic membership by friday. I’m not trying to be a jerk, but I do believe that it is worth supporting this site, for all the information and services it has to offer. Basic is $10.

Maybe its time to show some appreciation to Spark for the time he puts into one of the best forums on the net today.

Again, good luck to all, and thank you for participating!

Hear Hear....or is it Here Here.....??
Who cares anyway...the main thing is you have a place on the Porch mate or should I say Bud ....ay.....?...please dont be offended by my remarks...I understand that may be not as easy as it sounds but as most will attest...never ever my intention....At this particular point in history...the strength of friendship and mutual respect and humility has never been more obvious than examplified by the increased number of very generous gaws such as this one....(starting with my world first Coronavirus gaw I believe):D:D
Cheers and Thank You...and welcome aboard...its a voyage.

I don't get in on many giveaways these days and this one will not be an exception - I would, however, like to enter for another.

There are many folks across the broad range of this forum that deserve thanks, largely for simply being good humans. I'll name a few off the top of my head but please know that there are too many for me to keep proper track of. @Peregrin and @knarfeng for keeping the Porch on the straight and narrow - this place wouldn't be what it is without your attentive moderation. @rockgolfer for sending me my first GEC, however long ago that was, he helped start the roller coaster (I haven't regretted it one bit). @waynorth for being the awesome guy that he is, sharing his immense knowledge so graciously, and bringing us some of the best SFOs - they are already legendary. @Jack Black for being the unflagging ambassador of the Lambsfoot that he is - plus, he is an all around good and generous chap and I am honored to call him a friend.

Honestly, there are so many good folks to name and thank, especially here on the Porch - this could turn into a very lengthy post....

I shall endeavor to keep it reasonable though and will move on to my nomination. Should I be so fortunate as to be drawn, I would like the prize to be sent to r8shell r8shell (yep, jumping on that bandwagon). R8shell is an exceptional contributor here and I always enjoy reading what she has to write - whether it is in regards to her tinkering efforts, breathing new life into old blades, or just sharing her thoughts regarding knives and life in general. Her fondness for white bone is no secret - I think it will have a good place in her collection should she be so fortunate.

It is awfully hard to pick a favorite slipjoint (I have a favorite style but picking a specific one out of the bunch is harder). I will simply choose the one that gets the most use and pocket time these days.

Excellent GAW Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery ! Definitely count me in. That wharncliff is calling me ,;)

Of course if we're recognizing other members for making this a positive experience, you my friend would be included! A handful of others that know who they are, and also chuck4570 chuck4570 and @woodysone.

My favorite slipjoint... I'll go with this guy. Given as a gift because I hadn't tried the Barlow pattern and this one found its way to me ;)

IMG_0190.JPG Thanks for the opportunity for the giveaway, and for making the forum a fun place to enjoy and learn. It is a very nice folder. I am in.

Some of my favorites, my wife's grandfathers' knives, a Boker stockman and an older Boker USA four blade congress.

My thanks may be a little different since, I thank @Horsewright for all the great small fixed blades he shows, just so nice, I really enjoy seeing his functional pieces, how they are constructed, and the photos of them at work on his ranch.

I also thank @Gary W. Graley for sharing his experiences on some brands, his insights, and how he sharpened a few of Manly slip joints.
I am still working on my sharpening skills.

Meako!

No offence taken...and thank you for the warm welcome to the Porch. I read your post at 4:30am...so I was a little groggy. Haha.
I think I figured it out around 7:00am. :D

Thank you for the kind words, very much appreciated, we haven't run across each other in a while but you are defiantly a positive contributor and enabler.

I just saw this. Wow. Thanks, Dylan!

A quick update: as luck would have it in 2020...I have had some personal things come up that need to be dealt with this weekend.

Not to worry!! I WILL STILL be drawing the name sometime tonight, and notifying the winner and posting here.

The unfortunate part is that I will not be able to ship tomorrow which was the plan. I am hoping to ship out in the early part of next week.

My apologies.

However! There is still time to participate in the GAW...so if you are on the fence...get in here! :D

ps... r8shell r8shell you may as well enter yourself. ;) No issues with that.

Very generous GAW!!
I'd like to thank the whole community and the mods who keep the good vibes alive.
This is the only forum I've been on that doesnt seem to have any sociopaths (best word I could come up with without being offensive to donkeys). Just a bunch of knowledge, passion, inspiration and helpfulness.
Two posts really helped me improve my collection, the 1st one I cant remember who it was but posted a beautiful cocobolo 62 that inspired my first GEC purchase and @TheFactor who inspired me to purchase this beautiful Barlow pictured below.
Also a big thanks to you Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery for this GAW, but also for reminding me that I should contribute and at least become a basic member.

Oh yeah, I guess I forgot to do that. :)
It's impossible for me to choose a "favorite" knife, but here's my oldest, (pre-1850, I think) a gift from @waynorth. Charlie, I appreciate all your contributions to this forum, and the world in general.

Ok folks...I’ve been running late today trying to figure stuff out. :/
Thank you all for your patience. Just need to right down all the post numbers and do the draw...remember, this will be out of a hat, and my wife will draw.
All entries are closed now. Good luck all!!!

I am not as active here as I used to be so no entry for me this time, but I will gladly give a big thanks to the folks who ride range on this ranch going back to the time I showed up here.
@Blues and @Bastid were looking over this special place when I arrived, and
@knarfeng and @Peregrin are doing the job today.

Both as Mods and contributors we wouldn't have this place without Elliott, Gus, Frank, and Gary.

Thank you.

I love white scales! And Wharncliffs!

My favorite, for so many reasons...

Just to clarify...in or out? :D

Serious suspense! Haha. For me! :D09858C3F-E89D-41F9-929D-0AC09A852FFD.jpeg8D228B9E-9550-46E2-A5C0-35026D606A5D.jpeg
And the winner is Post #42, Henry Beige! He was in for @afishhunter . So congrats @afishhunter you have won the 06 GEC...the twist in this giveaway was that the person that the entrant thanked would receive an 86 GEC, but seeing as Henry Beige Henry Beige entered for someone else, he will be the recipient of the 86!
Thank you all for entering, and for your patience as I was/am working some things out this weekend!
And again, Congrats to @afishhunter and Henry Beige Henry Beige !!
