April 2011 -- Bubble Jig with a 7 inch clip point to grind on. Drawing tonight.

Hi there Fred..this is my first post here on this forum..or any of the number of forums that I'm always browsing for info and entertainment.. I have ur bubble jig already :) , but didnt have enough money for the clamp :( ..Dont know if ya remember me from the phone when i was ordering and said I felt like i was talkin with a celeberity.. lol not sure how often you get that. anyway, I'm here to say thank YOU very much for making ur invention available to the public. I have been into making knives for over a year now and still have yet to "complete" a knife, at least to my standards. I get kinda discouraged when it comes to finishing up a blade cause ive spents weeks on knives in the past just to have them get screwed up , somewhere along in the grinding/finishing the bevel part usually. I was alllllways making some sort of new jig to help me grind and either messed up.. didnt have money for parts to make it.. or it didnt work in the end.. but anyway, thanks to ur bubble jig im able to learn freehand grinding and hopefully develop that muscle memory for better grinds, which i was never able to before because I had nothing to learn off of..and i certanly didnt have the money to waste on tons of sanding belts and pieces of steel!! not ta mention at the time all i had was the 1 X 30 harbor freight grinder, which for me was too intiminating to grind on due to the platen not being straight and the blade bouncing all over the place whenever i made contact with it. OHH sorry! I better wrap this up! lol I just wanted to say thanks again for making the jig, and making it available to us.

P.S. I would also like to enter your contest, with the number 777 if thats alright with you

Thank you -Paul :)

Paul,

I remember our conversation well. No one mistakes me for a celebrity.:D except my shop dog.:D

I'm glad the jig has made blade grinding more enjoyable for you. Once a person gets comfortable when grinding; they are on there way to becoming a knife maker.

Good luck in the drawing, you may get that clamp yet.

Regards, Fred
