April 2023 Buck of the Month Granadillo Handled Brass Bolster 113 Skinner w/ S45VN Blade

Maybe they should do a stealth run or BOTM based on a collector/user poll. I don't think anyone was fantasizing about getting a black Sprint with a green Buck logo.

Edit: The Mango Bird was innovative and creative. I don't mind them doing that. In fact, part of the reason I bought the Mango was to encourage more Stealth Runs.

Edit 2: I also wish they'd go back to doing SFOs with retailers. Those were fun. I missed out on most of them.

Is there a typical "day of the week" that Buck tends to release their BOTM. Also, what about the time? I'm thinking, since there is a 2 hour difference, Buck wouldn't probably release anything before 9 am (MDT). Which means I'm safe to not pay attention until about 11 am (EDT).

I think most have been on a Tuesday or Thursday...also think you're about right on the time.

I just discovered Buck knives. I got an orange 110 and 112 with plastic handles. The plastic 112 is a really nice substitute for a mini bugout btw. Then I discovered Bucks website! Now, I eagerly await the April BOTM!
Welcome to a wonderful world of budgeting, self control problems, BOTM-release anxiety, and flea market hunting for vintage pieces.

You know, of course, they come in black, orange, olive drab green, red, tan, gray, chartreuse, blue in production and a bunch of special-run non-production colors as well. :)

Edit: Every color except for black, orange, and olive drab green are out of production now

Just make sure you stay well away from a BCCI membership. Those discounts get costly, and your knife drawer might start running out of room. ;)

Seriously, glad you found Buck, and welcome to the forum!

Interesting how the different BOTMs sell at different rates. If they did a plain Jane 112, but with Magnacut, people would go backward in time trying to get one.
yep, but if they did a run of 112 in magnacut and a run of 112 in bg42 at the same time..........the magnacut would sit for awhile...even though it's better across the board in every category than bg42. folks can be weird. I'd hate to be in the model planning section of Buck.

we see it here on the botm picks. everyone thinks their idear is what everyone else wants and would sell out.

and knife runs by voting often fails too. last voting we all did for a special run Buck here by skblades........wasn't so great and took forever to sell out. it was an okay knife but could have been much better.....truth is skblades picked better choices on his own. all his own custom runs sold out long before the Buck forum voted on knife.......

yes, I kind of figured that voting wouldn't work well after I wrote it. it seems people often don't know what they really want or they may lack mass appeal.

There is one category where BG-42 pulls ahead of Magnacut . . . it's now in the Unobtainium group of alloys, and is thus highly prized.

I like the March BOTM but know I wouldn’t carry it because I have found I only carry ones with deep carry pocket clips.
I recently got a random Spitfire off the 'bay to try out. I'm generally not a fan of pocket clips, so it just floats in my back pocket. For what it's worth, this particular clip is one of the easiest I've used (In addition to clips on Bucks, I have some other makers - Benchmades, a couple TRMs, and had some Spydercos - for comparison, so it's not like they're bad clips. I just don't favor them).
