I think I paid $150 for my BotM 113 in scalloped, Honduran rosewood and CPM-154 last year.
When I first saw the picture I didn't get excited about it.
Tho when you read what it is, it's a nice knife.
First impression won out however.
Pretty sure a Vantage will be the next "stealth drop."Easy pass for me...waiting on a new Vantage or 112 offering. To those that got one, or more, of this months BOTM offering, enjoy your new knife!
I hope they keep the price more in the $150 range or less. I don't know if it matters to them if they sell out immediately or not. They eventually will sell out, so they will get the money. So the cost will be storage space and time.Pretty sure a Vantage will be the next "stealth drop."
crap. do I need to stop getting my S45VN 113 frame made?Is s45 and s30 that important to buck collectors? I don't see anyone framing this 113 and mounting it on a wall. Not that it isn't a nice or high quality, but to the average eye, it looks like a wood handled knife. My point is, these will most likely be used, or stored under the bed. What was the need for s45, that would require the price jump? When I am outdoors, I like a carbon knife, that is easy to clean and sharpen. I have never had to strike a flint with a knife, but I use knives on ferrous rods all the time. Even my most abused knives don't have rust on them. What is the need for s45 when you offer all your knives in s30 or better? Seems to me like high end steels are more for the fidget spinner crowd.
As a collector, I like to have different examples of the handle materials, steels, blade types, etc. So I'm not against offering a high premium steel to collectors. As a user, it seems the only thing I'm successful at is cutting myself. Yesterday, cut my pinky finger with a recent acquisition. Is s45 and s30 that important to buck collectors? Yikes...crap. do I need to stop getting my S45VN 113 frame made?![]()
I think that the BOTM offerings create a HUGE stir for their publicity. A growing number of people have been chasing the white horse that is BOTM. That will wear off after a few more of these slow burners. I've always been ok missing out on a fast seller. It puts a little pride and extra value behind the ones i do get.I hope they keep the price more in the $150 range or less. I don't know if it matters to them if they sell out immediately or not. I don't even see for sale that often some of the older BOTM 112s. Seems like they're safely tucked away in people's collections.I don't think this one is a good 'flipper' unlike the best of the BOTM knives. No meat on this bone at all! But I'm not worried..I think Buck will come through with some really special BOTM later this year. Buck understands a lot of it's more expensive knives are bought by collectors and NOT Walmart shoppers and are a important part of the Buck brand. I believe a lot of management takes pride in a BOTM just flying out the door. Even the best hitters strike out, walk, or just get a single when they step up to the plate. But if this was around $150.00 it would be a double instead of a walk..
