Hey guys I was out browsing at a local sporting store today and I noticed the Remington R-15 Rifle. I like it alot but was planning on getting an AR-15. Anyone have any expierience with the two of these? If so which one should I get?

The Remington R-15 is an AR-15 rifle that Remington markets to the hunting crowd.

Functionally, they are the same.

Remington = Bushmaster. If you like the camo and the gun overall, go for it.

If you're just looking for an AR, there are other options I'd look in to.

I'd strongly suggest looking at all the AR makers.

Remington hasnt been in the game that long...

and with that finish, if you ever change ANY part, it'll stand out.

personally, i prefer something in more solid colors. Magpul's furniture is available in several colors and is really nice stuff.

Build an AR; more fun less money.

^ this-it's easier than it sounds if your new to them but you can actually make it your custom rifle and save money. Not to mention you'll have a better understanding of how it works in case of malfunction.

Smith&Wesson is having some outstanding sales going on right now. As an added bonus, you get 5 Pmags for free. Not too shabby.

Remingtons are bushmasters. Bushmasters are lower mid-tier ARs. If you are looking for a more "hunting" looking AR than a traditional black tactical looking rifle then its bout the only one you might like. I used to sell these and they arent a good tac/home defense gun. They are built for predator hunting. I second the fella that said anything you get after market will stick out.

You can build a good traditional black AR for a good price, or look for deals on complete rifles (thats what I did). Look into Daniel Defence, BCM, or at least Stag, S&W or Rock River arms.

i had the same thing happen just because i bought a trijicon front sight post for $5 at a gunshow.

Stripped lowers are the devil. The lower is the cheap part.

“Well if I just put a LPK in it and then find a good deal on a stock, I could have a different setup to drop one of my other uppers on if I want.”

“Well since I found such a good deal on a stock, maybe I should look for a good deal on a KISS upper.”

“Well for an extra $80 I can get _______ on it. That would cost me more if I bought it separately later.”

Building an AR won't really save you money these days (you'll save as much money by buying a complete upper and lower separately to avoid the FET).

What it does is give you an intimate understanding on how they work. And yes, it's fun.

If I hadn't have gotten a stripped lower on a face-to-face transaction, I wouldn't have bothered building one.

I like your style. :D

Forget about the Remington/Bushmaster crap. Do the following:

1. Go to the Bravo Company website;

2. Peruse the goodies there and change your mind at least 12 times;

3. buy at least 2 different uppers in dissimilar configurations;

4. Wonder where you can get a smoking deal on a couple of lowers to complete your AR's;

5. Stare at your CC bill in astonishment  - but smile when you think of how well defended your house is now...

Huge +1 on this advice. BCM makes great AR stuff, and their customer service is fantastic too. I'd not trade my midlength for anything.

If it was me, I'd just order the complete BCM lowers and have them shipped to my FFL buddy. ;)
