I am in the market to so I have been doing some research too. Trijicon is coming out with a solar powered red dot in april that is supposed to only need AA battery power when the solar battery runs out, which they say only needs changing every 4-5 years. The upside with the battery is that it is the common AA and that even in extreme brightness the dot can be seen. I still want to try a tritium RMR at some point though but am hearing that the tritium is hard to see on a bright day. I am looking at EOtech, Trijicon, and Elcan SpecterDR if I get drunk enough to click the buy button for an $1800 optic!
Aimpoint H1, have a T1 as well and if you don't use NV, clicking through the NV settings to get to a visible dot while not a ton of extra work isn't as slick as the H1's couple of clicks to visible dot.
Awesome performance, and with the size and lack of bulk you see more target / backdrop rather than the back of your sight.
