ARC rusting?

I have not experienced this with my Arc. However, I am using the Sheath when I carry it. I has an ST300 that I would pocket carry when I wore out the Molle sheath. It rusted due to sweat.

Try some Barkeepers Friend to clean it up. It’s a mild acid and it might help keep it from coming back. Otherwise, give Leathermn a call and see what they suggest. Maybe they’ll just swap it out for another.

Mine rides in the sheath with the bits… in my lunchbox pocket. It shouldn’t be affected. My Army issued ST300 did just fine. In fact it has never rusted and is still going strong from 1990!!!

Interesting. Is it dye rubbing off from the sheath? Try some rubbing alcohol and see if it comes off?

I am camping on PEI in Canada at the moment. I used some REM oil that’s in my backpack. It knocked some of it off but it’s still bad

It happens. I remember years ago some Rugers left the factory and were getting surface rust. Not good, but stuff happens. I’d give Leatherman a chance to make it right.

Mine has not rusted at all. Potentially contaminated with non stainless particles from a finishing belt? Bummer, send it back to the mothership and let them sort it out.

Yes! It reminds me of the pool shock effect on my Blur years back.
This ARC has been in the sheath, in my lunchbox pocket its whole life. The only other item in that pocket is a sandwich bag with some change in it.

Mine lives on my belt in the sweaty South. No rust either. I think this is an uncommon problem best resolved by a call to Leatherman. Otherwise, Barkeeps Friend (oxalic acid) will clean it up.
