nowhere have i've seen amazon as a dealer of cold steels, just checking

Hard to say....Remember, There you aren't dealing with one store.
Amaz*n is really just the "middle-man".

So, sometimes Yes.... It's legit...And sometimes You are SCREWED hard.

Why not support the vendors Here on Bladeforums?

In general, yes. I always look for sold by and shipped by Amazon, which ups the chances of receiving the genuine article and ensures smooth returns if anything is wrong.

I've bought a number of CS knives there and never gotten a fake or a return. I've heard a number of folks over the years say they've gotten returns/etc., though. Maybe it's just down to luck?

I prefer not to use Amazon if I don't have to. But, in support of the OP, occasionally I receive a gift card and must buy something from the oligarchical monstrosity that is Amazon.

It really depends buying from them, whether you are buying from them, or a third party. Sometimes its a third party but fulfilled by amazon (IE Prime) or its completely third party, just using amazon as an additional way of drawing attention to their company.

I generally only buy if its prime.

I echo Dadpool Dadpool . I have bought several knives from Amazon and they are all legit and with the lowest prices that I could find. Granted those were all sub-$200 knives so I did not worry too much. I am not going to buy Hinderer or CRK on Amazon.

I've always had a positive experience when buying through Amazon.
The few times I had a problem, a quick email to Amazon got action right away & the problem was solved.
Either pressure was brought to bear on the vendor and/or an immediate refund was issued with few or no questions asked.

I haven't had any problems for a few years now so I can't say if things are the same or not.

Based on my past experience though, I would expect Amazon to stand behind the sale & if the item wasn't legit, see to it that a refund was issued.

I actually have a $25 gift certificate to the 'zon, and have been considering using it to pick up a Civivi Exarch. I have room for one more knife in my display/storage thingamabobber, and then I have to start selling.

The few machetes, Kudu/Eland, G.I. Tanto, and the two "Professional" (thick walled) Big Bore Bowguns I bought before I was forced to retire for health reasons were/are genuine Cold Steel.

But Cold Steel is no longer owned by Cold Steel :^)))

So who own it today ? Top Secret
Maybe just simple - amazon.cn ???

Well..... I was wondering how much my CS AD10 was worth. Found plenty of them on Amazon for around 145 but, for some reason, ALL the solid vendors want 190. Coincidence? Maybe but enough to make me avoid Amazon.

I've heard that Amazon lumps all the products on one big pile, counterfeit or real, and then just deliver from the pile. So at best it's a gamble.

But consider this: Is amazon a legit business? The way they treat their employees, the environment, the society they function in? Do they pay fair taxes? Do they pay fair wages? I'd argue nothing purchased from Amazon is legit. Why not support a fair business instead?

Someone could buy a fake and the same legit item from amazon and then return the fake to Amazon. You buy what you think is legit and you get the fake return. Not worth the risk to me.

I ordered/bought a $16 Cold Steel Kitchen Classics kitchen knife from Amazon and received a Cold Steel Code 4 Tanto ~$80 knife instead.

I'm good with my Amazon purchase :D

At least one good word about amazon.cn today :^D

There are several different manufacturers stores on Amazon. Spyderco, Kizer, etc. I have not had any issues for years.

I have Prime, which covers most shipping. With that I almost never find other sites to be charging less.

Since any of the knives I buy nowadays are over $100 and the sites give free shipping in that case, they are almost always less than Amazon and offer better selection and service.
I also prefer to support smaller companies that better align with my thinking whenever possible.
