Are assited opeing blades legal in all states

just keep cool and lie lie lie. then deny

Live by this rule and see who gets screwed the worst. Either tell the truth or shut up and say nothing without an attorney present. Bad advice seniormc.

How this thread got to this point is beside me. The OP asked a simple question, and the answer is that yes, they are legal by definition of the law in all 50 (52?) states, but that doesn't mean acting like a fool with one won't get you in trouble. And best to stay out of NYC with one too.

I still stick to my earlier quote

"As for the OP's question, I do not believe you can safely assume they are legal in all 50 states as the way the laws are written. There are some states that prohibit a spring knife, and automatic knife etc. We know these to be different, but they could be viewed as illegal. Cold Steel says their TiLite is the 50 state legal switchblade look alike, but there are many states with blade lenght limits, and other restrictions that contradict this statement. I suggest you clearly look at the laws where you live and travel. Ask a ADA and get the answer in writing ( a letter or printed out email)."

"...this is my fault for not communicating effectively.

...laws are susceptible to exploitation by anti-knife interests...due to their ambiguous language.

I'm attempting to anticipate how they will try to exploit these laws."

Bryan,

Agreed there was misunderstanding. But you should've stated this premise first and foremost...it would've saved alot of people's time thinking you were a needlessly wordy son-of-a-mule. :D

No harm done.
