Are Holt Haptics worth the money $$?

Holt Haptic or Koenig Arius? Which one and why? I may be underwhelmed by the Holt Haptic. The Koenig Arius is a beast of a knife which is very intriguing…

I currently have a Protech Malibu Tanto blue and Shirogorov FS NS carbon fiber in the folding knife category. I had a Marfione Custom Protcol. Cool knife, but the action was meh. I also had a Shirogorov Neon Lite. Nice action, but small knife.

Can’t go wrong with either, but both are very different knives. The Arius is bigger and more capable, but the Haptic rocks as an EDC. Both have great action, I’d give the sliiiiight edge to the Haptic in that department. I have both, I carry the Haptic more, but I’m a sucker for smaller knives and sheepsfoot blades. Based on what you’re describing, I’m guessing the Arius will be more your size and speed!

Yeah, Arius seems more up my alley, but the Haptic is intriguing as well. The Haptic is a smidgen smaller than a Protech Malibu which I have, so that is a fair size comparison. And my Shirogorov F3 NS is similar to the Arius in size.

Which one is easier to obtain through the regular channels? Holt does a lottery and Koenig through authorized dealers, right?

The lottery is the best way to obtain the Haptic, they happen ~ once a week or so and they drop several knives at a time. Good way to avoid secondary prices.

The Arius does go through authorized dealers. The drops are pretty hot though, so it can be tough to grab through that way. I feel like Koenig’s pop up on the exchange fairly frequently and for reasonable prices. Might be an easier way to obtain one.

One YouTube reviewer pointed out that the Haptic is very similar to the Protech Malibu. He had both at the same time (loaner - Haptic/own - Malibu). I can see that, but they are still night and day. As he was handling the two, he stated that he doesn’t need to spend the money on the Haptic.

No experience with that model, although I do like the looks of them. I've found that most any knife is "worth it" if you think it is. Beware secondary mark-ups, however. The knife community is fickle and patience often wins out.

Not to me. I see a knife as a tool.
My $15 or less Rough Ryder cuts and slices just as well as my $44 ~$45 Buck 301, and I would imagine a call it "$70" Case.
"Why pay a premium for a name?" was part of my upbringing.

You paying premium for the rough rider my friend. You can buy knives for $1-2 at the flea market. Listen to your upbringing

I think the Haptic and the Malibu have some similarities (size, fidget factor) but are very different knives. My Malibu didn’t immediately obviate my interest in the Haptic at all. Admittedly I wasn’t much of a fan of the Malibu, though.

What flea markets? In the 21 years off 'n on (mostly on) that I've been in South Central Idaho (Twin Falls/Jerome and now Buhl) I haven't seen a flea market. Even yard and garage sails are rare during the sason. :(
(believe it or not, they look at you funny when you ask "How much for the yard?" (or garage, if applicable.) :D )

Since Feb. 2019 our gov'ner has had a Covid's lockdown for all extended healthcare facilities. "Thanks" (note quotes) to an allegedly "mild" stroke in July of 2018, I've been in a physical therapy facility, and now assisted living, since. If I leave the assisted living facility property (includes one foot placed past the driveway) I get quarantined, unless I'm going to a scheduled doc (or vampire) appointment.
Don't matter that I got the daRn stab twice Covid vaccine. (so much for putting miles on my Miami Sun adult trike, or going to the rifle range just 1.8 miles down the road ... if it still exists after the Gov'ner ordered all "non-essential" businesses closed 2 years ago. Shockingly, gun, knife, and archery stores (and manufacturers) are an "essential" business in Idaho!)

If quarantined, the cute (and/or otherwise) staffettes have to wear a Haz-Mat suit and hood if they come inside 15 foots of me, I can't leave my room, go outside and archery in the back side yard ... thankee, but no thankee.

Only shopping I can do is online.
(At first of month the Number 1 in command/facility owner takes my debit card to get the rent, my month's supply of Seneca chew, a few 2 liters of Shasta Mountain Lightning (no way to get a hole month's worth. The store rarely has more than 6 or 7 in stock. That's not enuf last a week. I need at least 40 for a month's supply ... unless it is hot out ... then double or triple that, and maybe a "party" size bag of Nacho Dorritos. :) )

I don't expect for the Covid's long term healthcare lockdown to be lifted until after "The Donald" is sworn in, in either 2024 or 2028 ... if that soon. :(

I just got my first Arius in today and holy crap it's good. I bought through USA Made Blade by utilizing a slow day at work and obsessive refreshing the website. They pop up pretty often on the koenig page on Facebook and reddit knifeswap for usually about $100 over retail

Had Hinderer,Shirogorov and just bought like new Holt Morpheus V1 for around $500.Great knife and in Shirogorov level if not better.Hinderers are nice but not same league as Shiro or Holt.
This Morpheus I have is keeper and amazing blade!
Tolerances, fit and finish, ergo, looks, action, precision, ease of maintenance,EDC size and just great piece of cutlery.
Cheers!
