Are "Rambo" type knives practical?

if MacGyver ever carried a rambo knife.
it would have been this...

The entire movie was based on a man with PTSD who suddenly realizes he is alone in the world and loses it.
But the KEY............it is 100 percent fiction. And then not even good fiction.

I still have the original Buckmaster. Bought it new back around 84ish I think. ..being the earliest version with the compass in the handle. I think it was around $120 back then. Still has the kit inside the handle as well. Its never been taken out. Carried it deer hunting and even for 2 weeks during the old Frank Camper Merc school in Al. Way too heavy/bulky for my taste.

Those original Buckmasters were and are still highly regarded; you can still find them occasionally, and they command an arm and 2 legs on the market these days... that has turned into a bona fide investment.

I agree to disagree as well. first blood was a really well written movie and gets into some pretty deep stuff for a "blow up everything" flick

I agree, the first had a message (and lots of stuff to blow up).

But the others were a bit weak on the writing, and way heavy on the "blow up everything". Rambo personified the "no way in hell can all this really happen" 80's action flicks.

And don't get me started on Arnold in Commando!

Just more "crazy Vietnam vet" tripe hollyweird was once so proud of. Again, just bad fiction. It'll likely play on many stations this weekend (of all weekends), and I cringe knowing that.

I had a crazy Marine buddy who would put a knife in his mouth and hang upsidedown on a bridge up above some old men fishing down below in their boat. Pretty funny at the time.

That buck master is just a cool knife. Thanks for sharing.

After the rambo knife maker guy didn't get a bunch of customers their knives.....it's been like a rambo knife bonanza on here. Just need more buck master pics to look at.......and a few backyard commandos attacking their bushes.....that's all that is missing.;)

Ask and ye shall receive. Took a few pics this morning..

Unfortunately I painted the sheath.

Dishes are left overs for the dogs :).

I've only cleaned 1 deer with it.

I have an Aitor Jungle King I, it was many years my favorite camp/forest knife, now I prefer to carry an A1 but JK I it's still pretty good .

Really great. Thank you for the buck master pics....I enjoyed 'em.

Man I miss my Buckmaster, it was cool. But I still have my Aitor Jungle King II. Another cool knife, and IMO a bit more useful and dare I say "practical" than the Buckmaster.

Does the Jungle King I have the slingshot built into the sheath?

Yes, I'll post some pics :)

I remember wanting a Buckmaster when they came out. I had a Life-Knife, Commando model I think. Wish I had the bucks for one of these reissued Rambo knives, not cause I need one, just because, I guess. :)

That is cool, looks like a big brother to my Jungle King II, except mine is black. Got to like that sling shot on the sheath!
