Are the new steels really better?

I keep looking for info on the Gerber command II. The info I see only says "surgical stainless". Is it 440c?

"Surgical Stainless" usually means that the manufacturer doesn't want you yo know that he's using a cheap, bargain basement steel. It won't even be close to 440C.

Usually Surgical Stainless, is an alloy of brittle steel, that could even be plated. I stay away from any non labeled steels.
