Long story short, I saw a few on forum that mentioned being "almost as good as" a busse knife. Problem is, I forgot the names and tried to find it again. No luck. (I also know that they sold some knives on here in the past)

That being said, what are the lists of knife companies that boasts being able to take a beating and shrug it off just like the Busse knives? (Minus the big named companies such as KaBar, Cold Steel, Esee, Ontario, etc. Just the small Knife companies, not including individual blade makers)

So far, all I remember is Zombie Tools.

Define this if you would. I've beat on my mora with no ill effects so to me this is a pretty broad question.

Swamprat and Scrapyard are also "Busse Family" knives. They are made in the same facility, and using the same technology. Usually they are made out of steel other than INFI (though there are exceptions). They have the same forever warranty for unintentional major damage.

Fherman has already been mentioned.

ESSE knives is another. The steel they use is 1095, so not a super steel or anything, but they do a great heat treat on it, and just as importantly, they have a great warranty.

Miller Bros Blades, that's the one I've been looking for! Thank you

And that Fehrman Knives is just as interesting too.

Shotgun, my question was broad to give people a chance to mention Miller Bros Blades but I did make it clear not to name big names which cuts down a lot, thus making it more narrow. :)

Bigfattyt, I'm already a proud owner of a Swamp rat RMD Bowie knife.

Marketing at its finest. Send me a Busse and I will astound you by breaking it in 5 minutes. A little physics and understanding of forces goes a long way.

Well of course. Nothing is indestructible. There will always be bigger machines to destroy smaller things. But during the normal course of life, it's unlikely a Busse knife will break under normal use.

I hear Bosch makes some pretty tough ones. :D :D :D

Yes, but you are paying for the suggestion that it is indestructible... During the normal course of life, you won't break a $25 Mora #2 either under normal use. And if you did, you could buy 15 for the same price.

Different strokes for different folks.

I take it you didn't watch the destruction test of a Busse knife on Youtube? I go by actions over words. I've broken Cold Steel Recon Scout, Himalayan Kukri, bended a kabar knife, chipped a Benchmade griptilian, etc all my fault. Point is, I am not the kind of person to just believe on just words. I believe in action that speaks louder and busse has proven it time and time again and they stand by it.

OK thats great. If you have already drunken the Kool-Aid then you don't need us to reaffirm your decision for you. Buy a Busse and be happy. I hope it serves you well.

You obviously use knives the way they're intended. Welcome, member who everyone bashes for abusing knives.

OP, what do you plan on doing with a knife that concerns you so much with indestructability? I've yet to break a knife in my 40+ years on earth, and that's by design. I remember what a knife is for, and when you grab a pry bar, vise grips, or whatever tool is needed. There are so many amazing knives out there, that worrying about the indestructible ones will cause you to miss many gems out there that don't resemble a steel pry bar.

I'm going to look into the Miller Bros Blade just as seriously as I am going to look at a Busse. The thread was to both show me/us new things and as a bonus, remind me of the name that I was looking for.

Being a knife nut, I know I will not be staying with just Busse Knives. ;)

Forestry, clearing trails. Some of those breaking of knives were my fault such as when I used the cold Steel Recon Scout during winter and it just snapped. That's when I learned Metal doesn't like deep cold. :p

Some? Nope, all.

If it ain't a job for a knife, and you use a knife, and you break a knife, it's your fault. Proper tool for the proper job. Knives don't do everything.

Love you too, Jimh0220 but how I used the knives on the trail (along with other tools) was and still is up to me; I will use it as I see fit. As for "some" a few of those knives had flaws which the company in question admitted and replaced. So please do not assume my history with knives. Thank you.

Sounds like you just need something in the 55RC range. I've used 1mm-thick machetes in sub-zero temperatures (including batoning them) and never once suffered breakage. :)

almost as good as a busse......hummm... that's impossible cause nothing comes close to a busse.

but........

any lower rc knife made in 440a steel will be quite good when it comes to not chipping the edge or breaking.

seriously i got some 440a choppers that can take a beating, and not break. the edges roll easily due to the lower rc hardening......but they are really tough.
