are tomahawks/hatchets legal to carry?

Really? I'm not doubting, I'm just confused, because apparently in Seattle you can walk around with a firearm like this:

Utilikilt03a

THE pistol is because he "KILT" the last guy to call it a skirt?

What if you are running around your neighborhood in your underwear at 2am? (true story)

Oh, I'm in NC, I was wondering the same thing, also about fixed blades. NC blade laws are so vague.

I'm from Texas and between North East Texas all the way to Dallas where I travel in Oklahoma I carry ether my M48 or my SOG Fast Hawk into the casino restaurants gas stations where ever and I've never had any issue with law enforcement over them, but if I carry a bowie knife they pitch a fit even though the bowie should be the official knife of Texas.

Here in VA you can open carry one and depending on blade length your good and it can't be advertised as a throwing hawk! The thrower would violate one part of the law and blade length can violate another but there is also no law in VA that says anything about Hawks or axes I do it and I live in the middle of the city not one cop has ever said anything. I also open or conceal carry a firearm and open carry large fixed blades. Read the laws check case law too and if need be call a lawyer. Most police will just say no or I don't know or transfer you to a different person ect. If it's legal don't argue or cause a fuss do what they ask and get locked up! Why? Wrongful arrest ect sue the hell outta them!

i am in VA as well, there is no blade length in this state, if you open carry you can carry any blade size you want, concealing is another story, but open carry you can strap a sword to your back if you so wish, not saying the cops will not try to cause issues but by law we can carry what we want.

By state law, in Texas it is illegal to carry in public either a tomahawk (or any other type of ax/hatchet) or a Bowie knife. You can legally carry either one around your own property (and I do, regularly) but not in public. If you have not been charged for carrying an illegal weapon (tomahawk) in public, you have been lucky to encounter lenient LEOs.

The law in Texas has changed since this thread was started yea these many years ago. Tomahawks, Bowies, clubs, saps, knuckles, and double edged blades are all legal carry in most areas.
