Seems like the wind has gone out of the forum's sails the last few days.

I know that HI's slow times are better than 90% of the other forums good times, but...

Well, income tax refunds are coming, and after that Mauser HSC Super I've had an eye on, maybe there'll be money for something like that 22" x 21 oz. mongoose Bill had as a UBDOTD a few days back.

Come to think of it, a katana really isn't that much is it? Hmmn...

refunds? what refunds? many of us who owe $$ won't be sure exactly how much until Sunday night when we quit proscrastinating. Til then it's tough to consider springing for a new khuk. I mean, I'd hate to bounce a check to Uncle Bill OR the IRS.
in the meantime, though, I'm enjoying those toys I do have. I've just come in from helping my wife trim the roses. The pruning shears, while surgically precise, were just too slow. I asked my wife if she thought a khuk might be a good tool for the job; she replied that she had no objection to having fun. I unleashed the 16" AK villager and doubled or tripled my productivity as well as wrecking some vengence on those nasty thorned suckers.

I think all the forums have slowed down - everybody is either dying or hiding eggs. A couple that move even faster than us (if you can believe that) are down to two or three old fogeys like me. As for your tax check, they can go fast. I told my younger son about the HI site, and he now wants an Uncle Bill Special and a Katana. He OWES taxes. Can't give too much advice - the tail end of my check is enroute, in the form of a 25" Kobra.

I waived goodbye to my tax return awhile ago in return for a few khuks. Uncle Sam needs to quit waisting my time and just send me my return in the form of HI khukuris
smile.gif
I feel it would simplify the whole operation. Rusty, it's time you run for prez on the platform of "A new Khukuri under every bed" You can choose your cabinet right here in the forums; Uncle Bill can be secretary of import and distribution, Jim for secretary of "research", Yvsa as secretary of zany ndn khukuri designers/comic relief...you get the picture
biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, the point of this thread. Yes it does seem to have slowed gradually over the past few weeks actually. There have been spurts of rampant posting but.....wait I'm primarily a lurker. Hmmm, guess I can't complain as I'm not usually helping the situation.
I'm just too caught up playing with my new Tin Chirra as of late. It's a young Khuk and it needs to eat lots of trees in order to mature properly

Uncle,
The "FELLOWSHIP" isn't hurting for $$$
may have to buy another next week! Only "one" to LIFT your sperits! If I buy more I catch ALL kinds of flack!

Mac, I like your style, except I don't want the X@#^%= Gov't. deciding WHICH Khuks to send for refunds. They'd probably be stamped "made in China" under the imitation bone handles, and the HI logo would have a strangely Manchurian look to it. I'll have to give my brother-in-law the HI site, and your e-mail. They retired to an addition outside Sarasota, and the pond in back has two resident gators. The site backs up on a game preserve, and they also get warnings to watch their pets outdoors, as the panthers get hungry in dry season. He's taken his 06 out of mothballs, but a good Khuk would make skinning easier
smile.gif

It would be like the dadgum guberment to cut corners like that.
Funny enough I hail from the Bradenton/Sarasota region and am moving back soon
smile.gif
I'm used to the gators around there, we used to swim with them as kids. Dad would only tell us kids to come out of the water if the gators went underneath. We learned to get out real Dayum quick too!! Oh, the joy of growing up with a redneck family

Walosi,

Correction... I should get back everything I paid this year. That is the upside to owning stock in a business that loses money. At least I will if I ever get the paperwork done...

By my reckoning, I should have enough for the Everest Katana, an Uncle Bill's Special, AND maybe even enough for a 25" Kobra... The wonderful thing is I *think* I can claim everything as business expenses if I shoot some photos for a product portfolio, and use it for promotional material. I need to get the commercial portion of my web site going anyway. I'll check with the accountant after she gets unburied from last minute taxes
smile.gif

I must say thank you for pointing me to this great forum... You know I've been a long-time sufferer of MADV (male aquisitional disorder virus)... similar to what you forumites are calling HIKV (I think)... just a more wide spread infection that makes you lust after all things that cut, shoot or travels on two wheels. I started making a list on my first visit...

BTW, since this is my first post, I should introduce myself. I'm Walsoi's youngest son Alan. As you can probably guess, growing up with him as a father hasn't influenced me at all

Nice to meet you all!

Hey, Al:
I hate to break it to you like this, but your Mom just read your post. The first thing you should buy when the check comes is a BIIIIG shovel, cause you're in deep doo doo

:
Osiyo Alan.
Glad you could make it.
And it sounds like you have it nailed down with the MADV, possibly my little Bro Rusty actually suffers from that as well since he along with several of us like things that go BOOM!!!!
I just aquired Terry Sisco's Egypyian made AK-47 and I absolutely love it!!
It's the 1st one I have ever had that you cold load on Sunday and shoot all week.
biggrin.gif

I see you're in S.D. I have some good friends that live up around the Ridge and on over into northern Neb.
I was treated very well up there a few years back when one of my nephews and me went to a camp up there with some Oglala Sioux.
We had a great time, went to the Sweatlodge as many as 5-6 times a day, every day and got the sunburn of my life in the daytime and froze my arse off at night.
You either had to sleep in a tent or under a tarp if you didn't want to be soaking wet from the heavy dew.
I lived on peanuts and raisins and good ndn coffee most of the week we were there.

An interesting note is that the womens outhouse came from Wounded Knee when the standoff happened in '73. It was full of bullet holes the US Gubbiment shot into it.
Talk about making a quick job of things.
wink.gif

After the standoff Grandpa Swallow requisitioned the outhouse and took it home with him just for such gatherings.
It was very portable as long as you had 5-6 good size skins to lug it around.

A Sundance is held on their land every year that's open to all and regretfully that has caused a lot of BS among the people. Seems that there always has to be some trouble makers.

But not here as your dad Walosi has probably told you this is a nice peaceful forum where you don't have to be crazy to join in, but it helps. Sounds like you will fit in just fine.
biggrin.gif

I am just waiting to see what Tsimi says about MADV. He will probably find a way to call it _advanced_ research or something.

And so it goes. Same story round the world.
They buy new dresses, shoes and purse ( plus jewelry ), it's necessity. ( A pair of shoes to wear with a single outfit? ) Why can't they understand instead about the importance of pegnoirs and baby doll's and bustiers for a new look every night? If it wasn't important, she wouldn't have 30 or 40 nighties I'd brought home for her to wear!!!!

But let you get an investment, a tool that will last a lifetime, a cultural and artistic masterpiece that can keep you alive in emergencies, proctect you in the wild, and secure the safety of your home, and the fecal material hits the oscillating device. It ain't fair!

I owed the IRS a bunch this year....really put a cramp in my HIKV. That and the wife losing her job
frown.gif
It's still gonna be a while before I can start my infection back up. My problem is, it's like going to the grocery store when you're broke and hungry. It's better off if you don't spend so much time in the store.

I'm still rattling around here, too, just too d*****d busy to do anything but glance through the threads. Paying off educational loans is killing my free cash supply, too.

And, errr . . . guess the taxes are getting done tomorrow am.

Somewhere, though, there's a WWII with my name on it.

And welcome to the cantina, Alan. (Sorry about your Mom

This does indeed look like a great place to hang out!

Yvsa, there are indeed some great people down on the Ridge. I had the opportunity to meet some when Slick Willie came to town to declare Pine Ridge an Impoverished Zone a couple of summers ago. I met some excellent folks during the two days I was down there. I'm not sure his visit helped them out much, other than bringing attention to the extreme poverty on the reservation for a day or so. But then I never thought he helped out anyone but himself anyway...

I haven't had a chance to scratch the MADV itch for quite a while. I've been spending my time in school and working to get my photo studio up and running. The going is slow, but I'll get it there in a month or two more (at least to where I'm getting a regular paycheck... and therein my mother's concern). I will (by exercising enormous will power... and the help of my MADV Annonymous sponsor) limit myself to only one purchase when my tax return comes back... out of respect for my mom (and the fact that I know what is good for me). The rest will go under the mattress or some other untraceable location for a rainy day.

To put my upcoming purchase on a postive note... it is a business investment (see previous posting) and very necessary to protect myself and new doggie from the evil Urban Deer and Turkey that stalk my yard at all hours of the day and night. Not to mention the packs of coyotes that prowl the canyon in search of fresh labrador meat
eek.gif

Speaking of facing the evil critters of the night, said doggie is asking to go out. I've learned not to ignore her when she asks

I was out of town for a while, but I'm back now.

I had to write a 1K+ check to Uncle Sam. Seems there's a lot of that going around. It also popped me over the limit where it's advisable to make estimated payments next year. First one of those due 4/16. I'll be living frugally for a while.
