Thanks WW710 those are sweet bro!
710 - nice - you going to make that out of some other alloys? i have a list of alloys we can talk about and decide which one is better![]()
in other news, i was splitting the wood pile some tonite, and came across this one log, 20 inches long, not even 5 inches diamter
and it WOULD NOT SPLIT... dang.
just ridiculous dense / twisted stuff - no knots that i could see.
even the heaviest of the sharp splitting axe / mauls just wedged in there. stopped. huh.
20ish minutes later, i started in with some improvised wedges. finally.
so, i hit the amazon and stuff looking for some good splitting wedges. gransforsbruks and wetterling have pretty forged ones, but "poor reviews". also $50-99.
i remember i had a vintage unused collins (with the hold) i found for $5. almost too pretty to muss up - esp with the old label.
look online. some of those old wedges are $80 on ebay. wtf?
all the other stuff is made in mexico, or india, or china, or ...
mmm.
in other news, the Timberwolf log splitters are pretty sweet for the price.
Adaptive tactical RM4 stock... With monopod and bipod. That's cool!
The mag storage in the stock is a nice touch. And the collapsible stock would let you adjust it to anyone in your family. It doesn't really do it for me but I have different needs/uses.
Love me some 10/22. I have a carbine I got in '04, I added tech-sights and a Volquartzen hammer, the gun always shot well but now it's easier to make the shots.
I would like to get an aftermarket 10/22 receiver and assemble one from scratch. But I'm waiting for ammo to come back with regularity before investing anymore in .22 firearms.
Everyone always gravitates towards better splitters, but have you ever thought about just getting a bigger fireplace?
big as you please. also big woodstove.
wood dries a lot better, and faster, if you split it.
very dry wood burns much more clean, hot, goodly, and less junk in my chiminininy to clean out later.
like i said, 99% of the time. or more. one chop one split. like magic.
this one was a booger.
Stihl makes a TITANIUM wedge. nobody seems to sell it though. lots of hand forged things though. weird.

I say just get rid of the chimney and the wall and the roof and the house and just live outside next to a burning pile of wood. Think of how much easier your life would be if you didn't have to clean and maintain and make payments on a house.
And I am not about to start doing all my own laundry and all the cooking.
Clearly, you are a single man.
Your idea does have some appeal, but if I did that, my wife and the cats would run away. And I am not about to start doing all my own laundry and all the cooking.
Your cats do Laundry !?!?! Damn it man, share your secrets !
