Are your knives too pretty? (CHALLENGE)

I think J Williams might have a picture of me batonning my Fiddleback Nessie. Otherwise I don't have many pics of my knives actually in use. Here's what I could come up with:

Walter Davis knife chopping some light limbs

Two person batonning my Walter Davis machete

Batonning J Williams' JK Scout

If that's a boat take-out, those coathooks might have been used to hold up catfish while the were filleted.

Seen that done with nails also, hanging from the tree, as well as a nail through the head, if you remembered to bring them.

Ok, I'll come clean here. I just picked up my first semi-custom knife recently. It is so damn pretty! I am having trouble using it for fear of it perfect finish. I didn't anticipate this problem. I collect knives sure, but I also use them. This is the most well made sexy blade I have ever touched though. I was hoping to see some pictures of some well used customs with mosaic pins and all the trimmings so that I could follow suit with dignity. I could really use more inspiration. Please help!

All life and art is temporal. Your attachment to the ephemeral will merely result in dissatisfaction and regret. In other words, use it.

And post some pictures.

I have a suspicion that I am going to either way. I would really like to see some solid beauties used though. It would give me some comfort. Lets see those pictures of sexy knives!

Before this thread is hijacked to kingdom come, please, please, show me a beauty getting used hard?

Why don't you post a pic of your idea of a beauty. It seams to me that a bunch have allready been posted in this thread....

This really isn't the "Mosaic pin" type crowd here. Most folks here buy for use not bling.

Just saying ;)

Umm, aren't there a bunch of pictures of nice custom knives being put to work in this thread? I suppose we haven't seen any shots of someone batoning an engraved, gold-embossed, mammoth ivory-handled work of art cross-grain through a piece of oak yet (I would love to see that!), but I would definitely consider many of the customs posted in this thread to be beautiful in their own right.

Just my $0.02!

All the best,

- Mike

Speak for yourself! ;)

I've got a Koyote Wharnie with mammoth ivory handles, definitely a user.

And a Fiddleback on order with a mosaic pin spec'd. Of course, it'll be a user too.

They all get used. I'll clean the tree sap off of them, but polish them up? Nah...

Ok, it's easy to miscommunicate in text, easier than with body language anyway. I'm not suggesting ANY of these knives isn't dead sexy in it's own right. The knives on display here are amazing, and some are even one of a kind. In fact, I've looked into several Makers based on two posts in this very thread. That said, I wouldn't suggest the members in this particular sub-forum have a particular taste as I've seen MANY different styles and types of knives as illustrated above. I think I was fairly clear in that, I'd like to see something that has specific qualities that typically aren't found in a user, being used.
