Are ZT knives worth it?

I see various brands being disparaged all the time and don't see the sub forum mods confronting people. Only this one.

Exactly.
I see people post about not liking Spyderco, CRK, Busse, Benchmade, any many other brands quite often.
Nothing wrong with that at all as people are free to like what they want, and it doesn't mean they have an agenda.
You will never see Sal, Chris, Jerry, or others come in here and tell us we have agendas and axes to grind just because we don't care for their products.

I don't think some in this thread realize what the word agenda means. Accusing someone of having an agenda is a VERY harsh thing to do IMO.
I've seen people here on BF that did have an agenda, and they are pretty easy to spot. They will badmouth a brand at every chance they get, and do it in many rooms. I know of two that kept taking it to a manufacturers room, and they were told to stay out of that room by a supermod.
I can't stand to see people bring their agenda here to BF. If you really hate a company that bad you should just not buy the product, and let that be the end of it.

I know most all that have posted in this thread, and no one in this thread has an agenda against ZT. They were only giving their honest opinion, which we all should be free to do here in General without having to worry about a manufacturer telling us we have an agenda.

The KIA rep is new here and he has apologized, and he also said he would no longer act in this way in the General forum. Thats good enough for me. He has kept his word and is no longer posting, so I feel its best if we get back on topic.

And like I said, I feel ZT's are worth the price if thats the type of knife you're looking for. They are not worth the price for me, and many others, but that doesn't mean we have an agenda.

Ok, now that we are back on topic, I want to give my little spiel on the idea of what something is "worth". I worked as a stock broker for many years, and there were always conversations going on about the value of a stock and whether it was "worth" the price at which it was trading. They were silly conversations, because if people are buying a product at a certain price point then it is indeed worth that price. Simple as that. How much is an early Picasso "worth"? There is only one correct answer to that question...what the highest bidder is willing to pay! Simple as that. So if zt is pumping out high quality knives and they are selling them as fast as they can make them then I will give a resounding YES, they are worth that price. hell, they are worth even more if the market will bear it. Any other answer is pure conjecture and opinion...and we saw where that got us. ;).

^^ Good lord! See how boring that sounds?? Why dont we go back to conjecture and opinion...that's way more fun! And I bet if we all respect each others right to have different opinions we'll do just fine.

In the rare event that I feel like / need an overbuilt folder (rather than a fixed blade) I'll reach for one of my SNGs before I take the 551 and that is ONLY because I've redone the bevels so I can touch them up on a Sharpmaker - I'm not looking forward to re-bevelling the Elmax on the 551 - there is a LOT of material to take off.

It's very easy and quick to do if you put away the Sharpmaker and pull out the silicon carbide paper. :)
Reprofiled the 0550 and 0551...and the SnG...and the SmF...and the CQQ-12.

Well said!

Are Zero Tolerance knives worth the money? Good start to the thread. It has now become a Whine & Cheese party of mutual accusations and insults. Closed.
