Are ZT knives worth it?

I guess the question i should be asking is are they the best for the money. Im not gonna get specific but i have a limited seasonal income and when i spend $100+ i wanna make sure that i get the best for my money. So if you had $100-$200 for an all around edc, what would you buy?

I would suggest a full size Benchmade Griptilian. For a folder, it is the best EDC I have every had. It is under 100 bucks on most sites, or you can customise one on Benchmade's website. You can choose the blade shape, steel type and handle scale colours.

If you want a nice beefy EDC, look into the Benchmade 275 Adamas. I would put it up there with the ZT line and they only run about $150.

If i had to pick one company to go with, it for sure would be a ZT in my opinion. I like benchmades and spydercos but my favorites are Zero Tolerance. Just got a ZT 0801 and it is a very solid knife for under $200. I also love my (newly acquired) 0777, 0600, 0350, 0560CBCF and plan on buying a 0770CF, 0801CF and pretty much any LE they come out with. Some of the coolest and hard use knifes i have come across for the price.

I think their recent 0801 is one of the best value folders you can buy right now. You get alot of knife for under $200.

No, they aren't. Had an 0200, sent it back and got a Spyderco Manix 2 XL in all black. Love it. Basically paid the same price since I had to find it on *that auction site*, and can say the ergonomics are MUCH better. Both blades came shaving sharp, both deploy fast, neither are my favorite lock method however.

I love Spyderco, because they give you a huge range of options in different prices, from around $30 to a $200+, and I've never been dissatisfied with one. Even the largest folders are designed for EDC, being slim and quick to deploy without sacrificing strength.

Benchmade is another company I like, however the consistency of the grip on their handles is wildly varied and I'm not fond of that. What I mean is one knife might feel great in your hand, and another knife with the same handle material might shred your skin from being too grippy. The Axis lock is my second favorite lock behind Spydercos compression lock.

In my opinion yes. The quality has always been great and the customer service amazing!

I always get a big LOL when people refer to Customer Service. I've never bought a knife I needed to return. If you are having to rely on their customer service, they are most definitely a knife I'll never ever buy. Aside from the aforementioned BIG CHUNKY knives do absolutely nothing for me.

Well, not everything can be perfect. I recently had to send my Becker back to Ka-bar because of a slight grind issue on the tip of the blade. That won't stop me from buying the entire Becker line and then some other Ka-bars.

Speaking specifically to the model that fits your particular needs (as has been said "ZT knives" covers a pretty broad range of fixed and folding knives), the answer is a resounding "Yes".

I have found models that I could live without, but they were always worth it to me. The biggest test of "Is it worth it?" is: Do you find it useful/satisfying for the money you paid? If not, can you get your money back on the secondary market?

If the answer to either of those question is "Yes", then it's definitely worth it.

It depends, do you like to collect? Does your line of work require a beefy folder? I work in an office, I am no longer in need of a overbuilt folder. I still love it, and if I am ever in a situation where I need a tough knife, I have it. It's worth having at least one in my opinion.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that works in an office and EDC's a big blade. I don't notice the 8 or so ounces clipped to my pocket versus 4 or 5, that's how I justify it.

I don't currently own any ZT products and won't comment on that but felt the need to reply to this post. Any product, and especially a mass production product, is going to have the occasional issue. Therefore, customer service reputation is a worth considering when deciding whether or not to buy a company's offering. Even if you do LOL about it and have been lucky enough to never have to test a company's CS..

Definitely worth it and generally high value for the street price for their regular production folders. The best all-around for me is the ZT 0801 which has a 3.5" Elmax steel blade and titanium handles. Very good looking, well-built, great flipping action, over-built, not heavy (5.8 ounces) and under $200 (street price)!

I have a 0220 and have ha it for a year now. I EDC and love, the DLC coating is incredible. The steel is nice, the only complaint is the recurve in the blade can be a pain to sharpen. It's a great knife and I love to use it, and it's seen a lot of use.

What happens if you needed a new clip or lost a screw when disassembling? Or wanted it sharpened to factory specs?

I find that kind of thinking LOL, Personally. You don't have to like them at all but not liking them because they have awesome customer service relations? I am perplexed by that  Thats like hating a company because they will be there for you. By that sentiment do you dislike Leatherman, or Esee too?

i got my 0200 to mirror edge with just 2000 grit sandpaper taped to a desk edge after taking it on a fairly cheap $40 diamond rod... plus if you have a flatstone just use the edge of it, its only hard when you try to sharpen it like you would a wharncliffe

and yes, they are worth it 150% i carry my 0200 daily for light and heavy use, its great for trimming branches (trimming the actual branch, not the branch from the tree, although i have done that) and medium camp type work

Yeah, I got a big ol LOL when I emailed Kershaw's warranty dept asking how to PURCHASE another pocket clip and one shows up 3 days later on my doorstep free of charge. Cracked me up. I personally am shying away from folders in the over 6oz range but they are certainly well made, with top shelf materials, made in the USA and backed by a top shelf warranty. One thing that wouldn't make me LOL was being told a cock-eyed grind that looks like it was done by a blind machinist was "in spec".

I used to need a heavy duty folder when I was in the Fire Dept and painting houses. Can't seem to kick the habit now. So no, you're not alone....and I'm a girl...I might be alone. lol.
