ARK Neck Knife

Spyderco now owns the rights to the ARK, so it's in Eric and Sal's capable hands. :)

Late comment here..... I love the bowie blade shape, but I sure hope the folks at Spyderco can match that with the thumb hole on previous neck knives like the Spot and Swick. Now that would be awesome!

Well, prototypes with a Perrin-style ring were made with, with the blade at various angles to the handle. On all of the ringed prototypes, the ring did not actually enhance control.

John, you and Sam did good! I follow your projects, and this one is just perfect. In BD1 or H1 it will be a hit I have no doubt.

Thank you, that's very kind. :)

As a daily user, I much prefer our Daily Kiri, but the ARK was purpose-built to allow anyone who can move their arms to cut someone off them.

Wow great to see it come about, I'm glad you went with the mini-Bowie tip and not the swedge'd one.

Its a shame and a disgrace a need for such a weapon exists in our military but I'll leave it at that...

A word from John, who's in training for a month or so and can't get on the forums much:

The problem of sexual assault is not just from service members. Bases in Afghanistan and Iraq are filled with local and foreign national workers who do the majority of non-tactical tasks on the bases, cleaning and maintaining. Though under-reported in the media, the sexual assault problem is most definitely NOT solely, and perhaps not even mostly, perpetrated by service members.

I will buy at least one. Sure it can be used for self defense. But it might be great as a small, fixed blade,EDC knife. Will try it as a pocket knife.

I am confused, so is this knife in production? Already available? How do you order?

Spyderco just showed the production prototype of the ARK at their Amsterdam Meet. I'm not sure how far away it is from release. Sometimes they come out quick...sometimes it could be a year or more.

Let me know when you buy it and how you buy it. I dont think it is available?

I usually wait until one of my "local" distributors has them.... They aren't in production so it could be quite a while. I usually buy from Warriors and Wonders, in Canada. Strange name but great internet site.
