Arkansas Knife Show 2011-Show Us what you Got

Approx 10 inch blade, ladder pattern, fossil Walrus ivory, stainless mounts. I am beginning the layout on the engraving now. Fast and Light if I know Fisk fighters.

Wish I were going. Some awesome knives have been posted so far!

GREAT looking knives J.R., and that Arkansas Fighter is SWEET too!

Thanks Roger, the swallowtail Bowie did turn out cool. I have been putting in the time to try and make it my best work. Hope to see you at the show.

Charlie and I will be taking this one to Little Rock with us. We have a few others in the works, but they aren't ready for pictures yet. We really look forward to the Little Rock show each year. The economy has recovered (Obama said so... I heard him read it), taxes aren't going to be raised, so bring plenty of money and a good attitude. Course if this was all true, we wouldn't have this one on the table! :D

I remember seeing this when you posted it somewhere before, truly wonderful work. And though I know the competition will be keen I am sincere when I say that you should enter it into one of the Judging categories as I believe it is worthy of winning.

Thanks for sharing and good luck.

Here are a couple from another great Arkansas maker Ron Newton that he will have at the show.

In Ron's words:

"My largest feather pattern bowie (10") with a 15n20 quill in the center of the blade. 416 stainless frame handle with mammoth ivory and 3 bar twisted w's guard, 18 karat gold pins and my engraving."

It is going to be a fun show for sure!

^^^ Wonderfully executed feather pattern in my opinion. Super straight feather spine and tight complex pattern.

Really like the damascus wrapped butt on the hunter as well.

Fantastic work by Ron. I know the new owner will be well pleased with this bowie. The feather pattern is stunning and I love the way he put his maker's mark in the center strip.

I don't normally flip out over a stand-alone hunter, but I did over this one. Wow!

Jerry describes:
9 1/2 inch ladder pattern damascus blade, chisel ground clip, fossil Walrus ivory handle, stainless guard and pins, german silver escutcheon plate engraving on the guard face and sides as well as on the pins and escutcheon. 14 ounce total weight with the balance being approx 5/8 inch in front of the guard. The only thing meaner and faster than this is an IRS agent bending over to pick up a nickle.

I appologize for the minimal photo quality but here are a couple of bowie blades that I plan on finishing for the show. (Haven't decided just what I will use for the handles yet.) The first is a 4way W and the other a San Mai both of 1084 & 15N20.

I've got six blades started and need to spend some time on handles & fittings but hopefully will have all done for Little Rock.

Nice start Gary - I'm particularly digging the pattern in that first one.

Thanks, Roger. I like to do something a little different than most when doing a 4-way like the one you mentioned in that once I have it welded 4-way then I rotate it 45 degrees and square again (before cutting & flipping). I think that it gives it a little extra. :)Glad that you liked it.

My BIG PROJECT, that I have spent most of my time on recently is with Chuck Ward now and I prefer not to post anything until he finishes with it.

Hope you can make it to the show.

There have been some really nice looking knives posted so far. Come on guys show us some more, please!

I'm sure we'll see more a bit down the road. Starting a show preview thread - particularly one for a show other than Blade - a full month in advance of the show opening, is a bit premature in my experience. Most of the knives will be completed and photographed in the two weeks leading up to the show. I know there will be a lot of good ones. There always are at Little Rock.

Gary - looking forward to your big project.

Roger, perhaps you should worry about the timing on threads you start and I will take care of mine.

I purposely start my Show Threads about one month in advance so we can enjoy the knives which are completed early (quite a few already completed and posted), and it helps save from so many being jammed together the last couple weeks. In addition, I create and manage Show Threads both here and on the CKCA forum and I post knife photos for some makers, so starting the threads a month prior to show fits better into my schedule if that's OK with you, MR. Pinnock.

Kevin, perhaps you should worry about your chronic failure to come to grips with the fact that the whole world doesn't see things your way, and on an open forum, individuals will occasionally express a contrary view.

You don't need my permission to start any thread you want whenever you want. Just like I don't need your permission to post here. Too bad only one of us understands both of those things.

Roger
